Religion is taught in schools in the UK, but not just Christianity - Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Sikhism... all kinds of religions!
And, contrary to some other answers you DO have the option to swear on a Holy Book in court. I was in an 'open court' setting recently at the court offices and watched as some poor Sikh woman tried for about half an hour to explain to the woman in charge that she did NOT belief in the Koran, but the woman just WOULD NOT listen, and kept trying to tell the woman she was a Muslim. What an idiot o_O
In the end she made the woman just take an oath without a book, which you can do if you're not religious

We don't swear on the Bible in KY (I've served Jury Duty before... there isn't even a Bible in the courtroom - nor is the 10 Commandments). Jail doesn't offer anything... Prison offers courses in Many different areas, not just religious education and many prisons now have people for all walks of life, including Atheists (they're just considered councelors). And I have never heard of Rehab (drug rehab) offering Anything of the sort.

I think you've seen to much Law & Order reruns. In court you do not have to swear on a bible. You only raise your hand and swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. I was just in court to testify about 3 months ago, no bible, no swearing to god.

The last time i was at a court, they didn't make the person swear on a bible. They just started with "hold up your right hand.." And there was also no "so help me God" on the end of it either... i thought that wasn't allowed anymore?

They've taken God out of just about everything now dude. Where ya been? What's funny is that a trial of your own peers doesn't include religion, but certain religions are at each others throat. I would think a persons beliefs can severely affect their judgement.

unfortunately, they don't use the bible anymore, and they don't use the word "swear". They have taken everything that pertains to God out of the court room, but will try and use His name in the name of justice. Ironic

You watch way too much television. You do not have to swear on a bible in court, you only swear to tell the truth.

You should not have to swear on a Bible. I know some districts have you make an oath "under penalty of perjury" instead.

If I ever have to go to court, I will refuse to testify on the Bible. After all, since I am not Christian it won't do any good.

they cant force you to swear on the bible anymore. something to do with religious freedom laws or something like that. you can: choose to swear on another book (Torah, Koran etc.), or choose to swear on no book at all (if youre not religious).
