My favorite costumes were the ones my kids came up with themselves! We had a rockstar kittycat, a princess cowgirl, and a killer oompa loompa!

My daughter was a butterfly for her first Halloween. I made the antenna and wings and attached them to a black pair of footie jammies. She looked so cute. She was Dorothy, and I couldn't get her out of the red shoes forever, in fact I had to avoid the shoe isle in Target because she would want another pair years later. She was piglet, a bride, of course every Disney princess. This year I want her to go as Sally from cat in the hat. I think the cute ones that come to the door are flowers, pirates, dog or cat, bumble bees, oh my goodness I can't think of more.

we did a little monkey last year and he was so cute. Someone gave us a dog costume so he will be that this year. He was going to be a lion because when you ask him what a lion says he says roar. Find something that interests your child and go with it. My one friend is letting he daughter be a princess and boy be a knight or a dragon.
you can make them all the characters from the wizard of oz.

I had a great costume for my daughter a tulip fairy, it came with a little hat and boots, it was so cute and then One Step Ahead jerked me around and now it is forever on backorder, sorry just wanted to put that out that cuz I am pissed by that company. My other daughter is going to be Ariel, but I really wanted her to be Daphne from Scooby Doo!

I do I do...this one is really great and I made if for my four year old years ago after I saw it in a magazine. He was a bright red LEGO. It's so easy, just take a box and cut arm holes and a head hole and paint it red. Then take 4 - 6 of those small styrofoam bowls and paint them red, when they dry glue them on the front of the box (which makes the box look like a lego) then take a smaller box (shoe box size) cut a hole in it paint it read and glue one bowl to the top and this his his head piece. Honestly its the cutest and so original. Email me if you have any questions kkertz@yahoo.com

so far my daughter has been:
a ballerina
a ladybug
a butterfly princess
cinderella
ariel
my oldest son has been:
Dalmatian
clown
pirate
my youngest son has been a lobster.
last year we did an ocean theme w/ ariel, pirate, and lobster. (daughter was insistent on being ariel). This year the oldest boy gets to choose and he insists on being spiderman, so they will be superheroes(spiderman, superman, and wonder woman). I guess next year it's the youngest's turn to pick and i'll make a theme around what he wants to wear.

I think my two year old would look so sweet as this little black cat: http://store.babycenter.com/product/baby+clothing/halloween+boutique/2t+-+4t/little+cat+toddler+costume.do?asc=false
Plus, the sweat suit can be used separately, as just fun romping clothes, long after Halloween is gone.

My husband and I recently watched The Wizard of Oz with our boys. Now they want to be the scarecrow, tinman, and the cowardly lion.
