I just heard, at random, that a child always inherits the Father's eye colour as opposed to the Mother's eye colour. I can't claim to that as both my parents have brown eyes, hence I have brown eyes. But I don't actually know how reliable my sourse is.

It's all genetics. Each parent carries a gene for eye color. So then the pairing of the genes determins the eye color.

I know that blue is a recessive gene so if both parents have blue eyes the child automatically has blue eyes.

But brown is dominant so if you have brown you can get any eye color but most likely brown.

Genetically, there it a 50 - 50 chance that the offspring will inherit the male or female's eye color. Some eye colors may be more dominant (i.e., brown vs blue), however it still would not decide which color is definitely chosen. A possibly example would be that the child has a 75% chance of having brown eyes and a 25% of having blue.

But an aswer to your question: NO. Your genes are just as biologically important than the husband's genes.

My Brother and I have a Brown eyed mother and a blue eyed father. HE has Brown eyes, and I have Blue eyes. However, he has my dad's feet and nose. I really do not think that is true. Some genetic traits are dominant but they are not so dominant to happen 100% of the time. There are so many fasctors in determining eyecolor that we only really understand the function of 2 of three of the genes that determine it. This is the best explination I can give. Go read! It is pure facination!

No the child will develop the dominant eye color. It just all depends on what genes are passed on. It is very likely that if there are a lot of brown eyed people in the family and the mother has blue then the baby will have brown but every once in a while the blue may pop up. My dad has brown eyes and my mom has blue. My mom and dads family all have brown eyes, and all of my siblings have brown eyes, however my moms blue eyed genes have popped up in two of her grandchildren.

♥ The child can inherit the dominant gene or the recessive gene. If the one parent has brown eyes & one parent has blue eyes the dominant gene is brown and the child will likely have brown eyes. Blue is a recessive gene and to me its a lucky if you inherit the recessive gene. Hope this helps!

Well, I don't know but it's true with my family. My father has blue eyes and my mother has brown eyes. My brother and I both have blue eyes.

No. I am one of 5 children - Mom had blue eyes; Dad had brown. There are 3 of us with blue eyes; 1 with green; and 1 with hazel. So, no it doesn't follow Dad.

Your source is incorrect. Anything within the genetics of both parents can pass down to your children. If both parents are brown eyed and one of their parents has green or blue eyes, your child can have blue, green or brown eyes. It's a roll of the genetic dice.

Your source is lacking knowledge in biology.

Eye color has to do with dominant and recessive genes. I am not a geneticist, but my dad has brown eyes and I have blue eyes. So, offspring do not automatically inherit the father's eye color.
