Why should a doctor have knowledge about physcial and chemical properties? How will this help them in their career?

Well, a doctor had better darn well know something about the chemical properties of a drug he is prescribing, and the physical (systemic) effects that it has on the body. I guess that is what you mean, since we are talking about the human body when we are talking about doctors.

Medicine and engineering are applied sciences. Engineering being a combination of maths, physics and chemistry and medicine being a combination of biology, physics and chemistry. Maths upto school level is generally sufficient.
