You have to attend and pass a class that is sponsored by the Canadian Department of the Interior. If you graduate than you must serve as an Apprentice to a fully licensed Guide or Outfitter for 3 years. You can then get a license to be a Guide or Outfitter yourself. I don't think the requirements have changed for the last several years but the class fee's and license costs have gone up several times
