You're confused. Kwanzaa is not a "religious" holiday. Its a cultural holiday.
Many, many, many African Americans in this country are Christians. I'm sure the timing of this celebration of culture was intentional.
And I see a lot of Answers for this question that border on Racist. Show some respect, guys.

It doesn't bother me. If they want to celebrate a man made holiday that is fine by me. Have you ever looked up the history of Kwanzaa? You will find the FBI was involved.

No. But all my African friends find the concept of Kwanzaa very humorous, and mock American Blacks for celebrating it!

Does anyone give a hoot about Kwanzaa? Most people don't bother being bothered by it.

Wasn't christmas purposely slated for the same time as the winter solstice?
Yeah... i get awefully offended when other people celebrate and enjoy themselves the same time of year i do. infact, i hate it when people have the same birthday as me , or even just smile on a day that i happen to be happy. (<---that was sarcasm, by the way)

christians just made it up first, a long time ago. I think it's a good time for all those stupid holiday rituals because it gets it over with in a two week period. Just my opinion.

Absolutely not.
Neither does Festivus. ("Festivus for the rest of us.")
If they have nothing better to celebrate, I say go for it!
