At what age do I begin to teach my child to wipe him self and how do you teach a child to do that. My little boy is only 4 and he tries but clearly doesn't do a good job. I don't want him to be 7 years old and mommy his still wiping his butt.

If anyone has experience in this please let me know what can be done here.

its hard for them to reach and do a good job still, but just keep helping and showing him how and encouraging and hell get the hang of it, my ex-husband still never learned how (gross) and my oldest sun had issues until he was about 12 with complete cleaning of the said area, so it comes with practice and good words from mom!!! my 3 1/2 yr old still asks for help, and i don't mind, but i do encourage him to try himself a little so he gets used to the motions

If he's at nursery ask the staff to assist him, its what they are there for! Children need some help here for a while, around 6-7 is usual. Its very hard for a young child to get themselves very clean, try using baby wipes or kandoo wipes. Give him a couple of individually wrapped wipes for school but show him how to do it at home first.
We have our childrens own wipes at nusery, give them one to attempt themselves and if they need help they ask.
Unfortunately no one is going to want to help him once he is at school.

There is no set way, just keep encouraging him and helping. I still have to help my 6 year old, it takes a while for them to understand how to do it, and to reach back there is not easy for little arms!

Buy some flushable wipies - they work great! At four, he's on track...will just take some practice.
