Peanut butter has protein which is good, but it's not a good idea to eat a lot... Maybe just one sandwich for breakfast or something.

The jam is all sugar and while Peanut Butter does have protien it is very high in fat. The bread unless a high grain or whole wheat will still be semi bad for you...All and All the PB&J isn't a healthy choice but you could have one once and a while. I would NOT eat them as a weight loss plan though... There just isn't enough good in them to balence the bad!

PB&J is good if you do it right. Don't go with high sugar and calorie jam or jelly. Instead crush some rasberries and/or blueberries. Skip the white bread. Instead, opt for some high fiber Whole Wheat or Whole Grain bread. Finally, choose the right peanut butter. Make sure you go with an all-natural PB. You have just made yourself a good tasting and good-for-you peanut butter and jelly sandwhich!

Peanut butter is good for you. It is very fatty but its a good fat and high in protein. Don't overdue it and buy a lowfat version or low cal version. Jelly is super sugery. You'd want to buy sugar free jelly or something equal to that. Look at the shelves and compare labels!
And then there's the bread. If you eat it on white bread then you are getting no nutrients and lots of calories. Make sure to make it on wheat bread made with whole grain flour. Again, you have to read the label. If anywhere on the ingredients list it says "enriched" then its not really whole wheat or whole grain.

I will vote that PB&J is good for you. However, as true with most everything that taste good, I would prepare and eat PB&J in moderation. (reduced sodium content peanut butter and low sugar "simple" jams).
As an extra bonus, I found this peanut butter fact quiz on the web just for fun ... and an article on George Washington Carver (Sorry Jimmy Carter ... this guy is the real Mr Peanut)

Use sugar free jelly and a whole grain bread. Peanut butter and jelly in this way is a very healthy snack. Plus the peanut butter is full of protein.

Peanut butter and jelly is really not good for you when you are on a diet because peanut butter has a lot of fat and calories in it.
