Benedict XVI says:
The peace of Christ is not the absence of conflict, but the struggle against evil (Aug 19, 2007, Castel Gandolfo, Italy)

Bible says:
Christ is the end of the law: Romans 10:4
Christ is our peace who abolished law: Eph 2:14,15
The absence of law(against us) is the absence of con-flict.

I am (grace) not come to destroy (law),
I am (grace) come to full fill (grace & truth).
Which (law/grace)things are an "allegory".

Jesus: division and not peace... bad ending of CJ
Christ: peace and not dividead...good ending of JC

Peace with God is through J-->C: the end of the law.

The GRACE of our Lord J-->C with you-->all. Amen.

Obviously what the Bible says. We are warned to test any scripture against the gospel, even if it comes from an angel.

The pope can say all he wants, it is not true if it conflicts with the Word of God.

The two are not in conflict. There are protestants and fundies that would like for it to seem that way so they can continue in their apostasy, but in reality the pope is just expanding on what the bible already teaches and is showing us how it applies to us today. Any Christian that thinks all of the issues we have today are covered in abundant detail in the bible are fooling themselves. Since this is clearly not the case, and as Jesus always intended, we need one source, proteced from error, to help us understand more fully.

And your question is?
Since there is not a single mention of the fact that Jesus Christ himself stated, "He who wishes to follow me must pick up his cross and follow me" Luke. The pope is no more reiterating that to be Christian is not the absence of conflict, we will be presented with much conflict, many temptations, was not Christ himself tempted in the Garden of Getsemane. Did he not struggle against evil in the desert?
We must all learn that this is the true calling of Christ, to resist evil and temptation and to love with all our heart, soul and mind.
The Bible cannot be taken verse for verse, it must be taken in it's full context.
God's love and grace be with you always.

The Vicar of Christ says: "The peace of Christ is not the absence of conflict, but the struggle against evil".

Christ says: "Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword." (Matt 10:34)

Sounds the same to me. As usual, the Vicar of Christ speaks for Christ.

If in doubt follow the Bible! The Pope is a man, no man is perfect! Follow what the Bible says and God will reward you! I hope you can follow and stick with your convictions.
Just pray about it and God will be wih you!

Not that am Catholic or Christian, but this is great. What about the infallibility of the Pope? I mean how many Popes re-wrote the bible over the years to fit political agendas?
