Yes I do believe it. The Greek word translated as "meek" is praus. No English word however, fully conveys the meaning of this word. "Meek" is as close as one can get. Praus is not JUST a docile gentleness. Behind this gentleness is steely strength. The corresponding noun prautes is an inwrought grace of the soul; and the exercises of it are first and chiefly towards God. It is that temper of spirit in which we accept His dealings with us as good, and therefore without disputing or resisting; it is closely linked with the word tapeinophrosune, that is, humility.
This means for me, asking for God's direction in my life and then being attuned to the leadings of God's spirit and following it, even if it is not what I would have expected or wanted. (Psalm 25:4-5) I know that if I truly want God's guidance, I must be deligent in studying his word. I also receive guidance through association with Godly people, and reading Bible based publications provided by the faithful and discreet slave. (Matthew 24:45)

Yes, I believe what He said. The meek don't inherit the Earth as it is, but the new Earth God will provide. Here is some additional information on "meekness," considering many people overlook the real meaning in the term:
Meekness is necessary in a spiritual person; the power of meekness erases anger, malice, enmity, and condemnation from the heart and adorns the soul with a gentleness.
Meekness is an unchangeable state of mind, which remains the same in Honor and dishonor. Meekness consists in praying calmly and sincerely for a neighbor when he causes many turmoils. Meekness is a rock overlooking the sea of anger, which breaks all the waves that dash against it, yet remains completely unmoved. Meekness is the buttress of patience, the door, or rather, the mother of love, and the foundation of discernment, for it is said: The Lord will teach the meek His ways (Psalm 24:9). Meekness prepares us for the forgiveness of sins; it is boldness in prayer; an abode of the Holy Spirit.

Three definitions for "meek" in dictionary.com
1. humbly patient or docile, as under provocation from others. 2. overly submissive or compliant; spiritless; tame. 3. (Obsolete) gentle; kind.
The second definition contains a negative value judgement ("overly") so I reject that as a possible meaning for what Jesus said...he wouldn't have told people to be "overly" anything (i.e., he wouldn't have seen it as excessive). That leaves the other two...the third was listed as "obsolete", but it probably wasn't obsolete at the time whatever word Jesus actually used was translated as "meek" (the Greek word is similar to the third definition).
For me, the meek are the ones that are gentle and kind and patient in the face of provocation from others. The meek trust that God will protect them from their enemies and don't feel the need to be harsh, cruel, unkind, or impatient with people that provoke them.
Certainly not an easy thing to do but his words tell me that he will reward me (bless me) if I can do it. Thank God other words tell me that he'll forgive me when I mess up, but if I want the blessings he promises, I need to try my best to be gentle, kind and patient with other people.
...it all seems to come back to the commandments of Jesus...love God and love one another...being "meek" relates to both...trust God to protect you and be gentle and kind to others.

It was a way to keep the downtrodden peasants from killing the tyrannical rich: make them believe that they would be rewarded for their suffering. Of course, this wouldn't happen until after they died, so no one could come back and complain about being gypped. Then, to further feed the fiction, they were told that rich folks had little chance of the reward the poor were going to get. In this way, the ignorant peasants were able to feel a certain sense of superiority over those who abused them.
The christian bible is full of psychology to control every instinct, every waking moment, every glimmer of original thought.

Bongernet said it right "Religion is a disease of the mind, born of fear, which has done nothing but bring untold misery down upon the human race. "
Correct! RELIGION = FEAR/TERROR= TERRORISTS
Which would explain why religious freaks become terrorists. The more they believe in their god, the more they kill in his name.
So why do some people want to promote religion? Seems to me that God has been killing people off for disobeying him for a long long time. How fair is that? Gees, OJ kills a couple people that pissed him off and everyone is all against it. But it's OK for God to do it, is that how this works?
I've asked the question WHERE WAS GOD on 9/11 and someone answered "He was flying the plane". Sad as it is, that is the DAMNED TRUTH!

!-) Jesus advised us to no longer take oaths on something--no longer on Jerusalem, nor on bibles, yet only say "confident, confident" or "No, no", and regardless of is previous that's from the evil one. In regulation, they swear on bibles in courtrooms, that's ironic, idiotic. regulation assumes that folk can and could LIE, and that's ok, except they are under OATH, which transforms a lie into perjury. Being prepared to be imperfect and settle for "progression, no longer perfection", is a human copout, an excuse that even inhabits the religious AA software. If I enable greater ability into my existence, and shop doing so, perfection ought to grow to be conceivable. no longer MY perfection, yet that of the daddy for which i'm in basic terms a motor vehicle, an expression. that's is the frustrating section, that "I" won't be able to take excitement or credit, because of the fact i grow to be a by-product being, a gadget of god. Caveat, even nevertheless. Our theory of "perfection" probable has some thing incorrect with it. that's being suited no longer by ability of human standards, yet by ability of divine standards, which i'm no longer given to be attentive to, and that's additionally no longer revealed in scripture or technological know-how, yet which ought to are available basic terms from the indoors source. i'm led, i'm no longer the chief. i'm a motor vehicle, no longer the driving force. With the appropriate strategies-set, i could grow to be worth to be a Passenger in God's holiday.

He is correct. We are all going to inherit a little piece of earth when we die. It may not be as large as many think, particularly as graveyards are regularly burying corpse on top of corpse as the old graveyards fill up. An interesting method of making optimum use of space.
