I'm not really happy that my hair is turning grey and I want my red hair back. should I dye it myself or go to a salon to do it? I wish I could find another way to do it without dye.

Go to a salon especially when considering the color red. It shouldn't be that expensive.

I have had my hair dyed by a salon and by myself. The way I see it is, I do it myself for around 9.00 when it costs me around70-90 at a salon. I have brown hair but have been dying it for a lot of years now to Blonde. I ONLY use L'Oreal on my hair, the colors are truer and my sister also uses only that brand. Everyone is different but we prefer that one. When I go into get my hair cut at the salon they are surprised how good the color is and it also does not damage my hair. You can try various hair dyes but I know first hand mt Mom tried to use red and WOW, it was Clairol I think and it was was too red!
All the women in my family use and trust L'Oreal for our hair.

Try hydrience , over the counter. I use this because I am blond and I don't want brassy ,neon color. If you don't like this you can go to Rite Aid the product that takes hair color out . I can't remember the name of it. If you just don't trust yourself go to a salon. But, you will have live with salon color for six months.

Go to the salon, because grey hair is different when it comes to coloring it, and they have the expertise you will need. Also, if you want to explore other options they may be able to assist you with that as well. I encourage you to go to the salon- its worth the extra bucks. Good Luck!

I went to a salon when my hair first started turning gray, but the prices were ridiculous to have your hair colored and then tip the hair dresser. So, she told me to experiment with the color at home. I did my roots first. Followed directions and left it on for 20 minutes. She told me to put some shampoo in with the rest of the color, so it didn't "grab" my existing hair color on my ends and turn it darker. You put that mixture on the rest of your hair for usually 5-10 minutes.Follow the directions. My hair color is a medium auburn, and it always looks great.

If I were you, I'd shell out the money for the professionals to do it for me. Ask around first for very good references. Maybe from there your stylist my be able to tell you what you can do to maintain your color and keep it healthy.
