Verily! Those who believe and those who are Jews and Christians, and Sabians, whoever believes in Allâh and the Last Day AND DO RIGHTEOUS GOOD DEEDS shall have their reward with their Lord, on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve..
AND DO RIGHTEOUS GOOD DEEDS
AND DO RIGHTEOUS GOOD DEEDS
AND DO RIGHTEOUS GOOD DEEDS
Now you have to ask what does AND DO RIGHTEOUS GOOD DEEDS mean in islamic terminology?
Qur'an:9:88 "The Messenger and those who believe with him, strive hard and fight with their wealth and lives in Allah's Cause."
Qur'an:9:5 "Fight and kill the disbelievers wherever you find theQur'an:9:112 "The Believers fight in Allah's Cause, they slay and are slain, kill and are killed."
Qur'an:9:29 "Fight those who do not believe until they all surrender, paying the protective tax in submission."
m, take them captive, harass them, lie in wait and ambush them using every stratagem of war."
Qur'an:8:39 "Fight them until all opposition ends and all submit to Allah."
Qur'an:8:39 "So fight them until there is no more Fitnah (disbelief [non-Muslims]) and all submit to the religion of Allah alone (in the whole world)
Qur'an:9:14 "Fight them and Allah will punish them by your hands, lay them low, and cover them with shame. He will help you over them."
Qur'an:8:65 "O Prophet, urge the faithful to fight. If there are twenty among you with determination they will vanquish two hundred; if there are a hundred then they will slaughter a thousand unbelievers, for the infidels are a people devoid of understanding."
Qur'an:9:38 "Believers, what is the matter with you, that when you are asked to go forth and fight in Allah's Cause you cling to the earth? Do you prefer the life of this world to the Hereafter? Unless you go forth, He will afflict and punish you with a painful doom, and put others in your place."
Qur'an:9:123 "Fight the unbelievers around you, and let them find harshness in you."
Qur'an:8:72 "Those who accepted Islam and left their homes to fight in Allah's Cause with their possessions and persons, and those who gave (them) asylum, aid, and shelter, those who harbored them - these are allies of one another. You are not responsible for protecting those who embraced Islam but did not leave their homes [to fight] until they do so." [Another translation reads:] "You are only called to protect Muslims who fight."
Qur'an:8:73 "The unbelieving infidels are allies. Unless you (Muslims) aid each other (fighting as one united block to make Allah's religion victorious), there will be confusion and mischief. Those who accepted Islam, left their homes to fight in Allah's Cause (al-Jihad), as well as those who give them asylum, shelter, and aid - these are (all) Believers: for them is pardon and bountiful provision (in Paradise)."
Qur'an:48:16 "Say (Muhammad) to the wandering desert Arabs who lagged behind: ‘You shall be invited to fight against a people given to war with mighty prowess. You shall fight them until they surrender and submit. If you obey, Allah will grant you a reward, but if you turn back, as you did before, He will punish you with a grievous torture."
Qur'an:48:22 "If the unbelieving infidels fight against you, they will retreat. (Such has been) the practice (approved) of Allah in the past: no change will you find in the ways of Allah."
Qur'an:47:4 "When you clash with the unbelieving Infidels in battle (fighting Jihad in Allah's Cause), smite their necks until you overpower them, killing and wounding many of them. At length, when you have thoroughly subdued them, bind them firmly, making (them) captives. Thereafter either generosity or ransom (them based upon what benefits Islam) until the war lays down its burdens. Thus are you commanded by Allah to continue carrying out Jihad against the unbelieving infidels until they submit to Islam."
Qur'an:47:31 "And We shall try you until We know those among you who are the fighters."
Qur'an:9:19 "Do you make the giving of drink to pilgrims, or the maintenance of the Mosque, equal to those who fight in the Cause of Allah? They are not comparable in the sight of Allah. Those who believe, and left their homes, striving with might, fighting in Allah's Cause with their goods and their lives, have the highest rank in the sight of Allah."
Qur'an:5:94 "Believers, Allah will make a test for you in the form of a little game in which you reach out for your lances. Any who fails this test will have a grievous punishment."
Qur'an:2:193 "Fight them until there is no more Fitnah (disbelief) and religion is only for Allah. But if they cease/desist, let there be no hostility except against infidel disbelievers."
Qur'an:2:217 "They question you concerning fighting in the sacred month. Say: ‘Fighting therein is a grave (matter); but to prevent access to Allah, to deny Him, to prevent access to the Sacred Mosque, to expel its members, and polytheism are worse than slaughter. Nor will they cease fighting you until they make you renegades from your religion. If any of you turn back and die in unbelief, your works will be lost and you will go to Hell. Surely those who believe and leave their homes to fight in Allah's Cause have the hope of Allah's mercy."
Qur'an:2:244 "Fight in Allah's Cause, and know that Allah hears and knows all."
Qur'an:2:246 "He said: ‘Would you refrain from fighting if fighting were prescribed for you?' They said: ‘How could we refuse to fight in Allah's Cause?'"
Qur'an:61:2 "O Muslims, why say one thing and do another? Grievously odious and hateful is it in the sight of Allah that you say that which you do not. Truly Allah loves those who fight in His Cause in a battle array, as if they were a solid cemented structure."
Qur'an:3:146 "How many prophets fought in Allah's Cause? With them (fought) myriads of godly men who were slain. They never lost heart if they met with disaster in Allah's Cause, nor did they weaken nor give in. Allah loves those who are firm and steadfast [warriors]."
Qur'an:3:153 "Behold! You ran off precipitately, climbing up the high hill without even casting a side glance at anyone, while the Messenger in your rear is calling you from your rear, urging you to fight. Allah gave you one distress after another by way of requital, to teach you not to grieve for the booty that had escaped you and for (the ill) that had befallen you."

Here is the commentary on this verse so that you can understand fully what is required in order to acheive salavation and be admitted into Paradise. You will see that it is necessary to follow Islam in order to acheive salvation.
From Tafsir Ibn Kathir (Qur'an Commentary) -
(62. Verily, those who believe and those who are Jews and Christians, and Sabians (Sabi'in), whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day and does righteous good deeds shall have their reward with their Lord, on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.)
After Allah described the condition - and punishment - of those who defy His commands, fall into His prohibitions and transgress set limits by committing prohibited acts, He stated that the earlier nations who were righteous and obedient received the rewards for their good deeds. This shall be the case, until the Day of Judgment. Therefore, whoever follows the unlettered Messenger and Prophet shall acquire eternal happiness and shall neither fear from what will happen in the future nor become sad for what has been lost in the past. Similarly, Allah said,
(No doubt! Verily, the Awliya' of Allah, no fear shall come upon them nor shall they grieve) (10:62).
The angels will proclaim to the dying believers, as mentioned,
(Verily, those who say: "Our Lord is Allah (alone),'' and then they stand firm, on them the angels will descend (at the time of their death) (saying): "Fear not, nor grieve! But receive the glad tidings of Paradise which you have been promised!''). (41:30)
Ali bin Abi Talhah narrated from Ibn `Abbas, about, (Verily, those who believe and those who are Jews and Christians, and Sabians, whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day) that Allah revealed the following Ayah afterwards: (And whoever seeks religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted of him, and in the Hereafter he will be one of the losers) (3:85).
This statement by Ibn `Abbas indicates that Allah does not accept any deed or work from anyone, unless it conforms to the Law of Muhammad that is, after Allah sent Muhammad . Before that, every person who followed the guidance of his own Prophet was on the correct path, following the correct guidance and was saved.

no
the intepertation of ur two mentioned verses:
1.Surely those who believe, [who believed] before, in the prophets, and those of Jewry, the Jews, and the Christians, and the Sabaeans, a Christian or Jewish sect, whoever, from among them, believes in God and the Last Day, in the time of our Prophet, and performs righteous deeds, according to the Law given to him - their wage, that is, the reward for their deeds, is with their Lord, and no fear shall befall them, neither shall they grieve (the [singular] person of the verbs āmana, 'believes', and 'amila, 'performs', takes account of the [singular] form of man, 'whoever', but in what comes afterwards [of the plural pronouns] its [plural] meaning [is taken into account]).
They believe in God and in the Last Day, enjoining decency and forbidding indecency, vying with one another in good works; those, described in the way God has mentioned, are of the righteous, and some of them are not like this and are not righteous.
friend it is different now since the original bible and the torah arenot poresent any more and the divine ones are changed and (sorry!) corrupted , that reward would be for ppl of the book(jews and christians ) who were b4 islam , they were also (the believers) of them were following the path of monothism , In this sense, all the pious Jews were Muslims. When Jesus came to them saying he was the expected Messiah foretold in their Torah, some Jews followed him and they were later called Christians. And the Christians who followed Jesus the prophet of God, were also “Muslims, because they worshipped none but the One God.
And then came Muhammad; in answer to the prophecies in the Jewish and Christian books of the Bible. And those Jews who recognized in Muhammad “the prophet-like-Moses,” prophesied in Deuteronomy 18:15-19, followed him. The same was true of the Christians who saw that Muhammad was “the Comforter” foretold in the Gospel of John 16:5-15 (as well as in Deuteronomy). They became the followers of Muhammad, peace be on him.
Thus, those who persistently refuse to listen to the call of the Last Prophet are in the wrong. But only Allah knows what judgment is waiting for them. This is because many misinterpret the clear prophecies in their own scriptures and turn away from the guidance of God brought by His Last Prophet.

This verse is talking about the Jews, Christians and the Sabians who are going to heaven. Those are the ones who truly believed before Islam.
Quran also said:
3:85] If anyone desires a religion other than Islam (submission to Allah), never will it be accepted of him; and in the Hereafter He will be in the ranks of those who have lost (All spiritual good).

The verse i believe is refering to those jews and Christians who followed the prophet of their time. The final prophet for many is the Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) and as such those who followed the Prophets Moses and Jesus (pbut) should again now follow the latest Prophet
How_Would_I_Know - have you ever tried to find any of these so called facts for yourself or do you simply repeat what every ignorant person says to you?. If you look at any of the islamic websites and their forums there is clear proof that what you are saying is incorrect.
wondermus - have you never wondered how such a book could have been written by someone so illiterate.?

The only way to the father is throught the son. As a Christian we believe we are not saved by works and deeds alone. You have to be saved to get to Heaven. How do you become saved? Repent of your sins, ask the Lord Jesus Christ into your heart, and start living for him. That's what I as a Christian believe. I acknowledge that Muhommad was a wise prophet however he is not the son of God. Jesus Christ is the the Great I Am... and he alone is the Ancient of Days. This is the way the truth and the life.

You need not be a Muslim to believe in GOD. All those who believes in one and the universal GOD become Muslims by default. That is why all historical characters, Prophets existed centuries before Mohamed were considered Muslims and listed in Quran. They all believed in one GOD starting from the first man Adam.

I think the answer lies in contemplation of this question: If Man existed before Abraham, what happened to them when they died?
For me the answer is either: 1) Abrahimic religions (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam) are false and God doesn't really care as long as you live well (ie without intentionally hurting others, especially for personal gain, and show your God respect); or 2) There is no heaven or hell and when you die you are gone, so live well while you are here (ie without intentionally hurting others, especially for personal gain).

What causes a person to become a rapist or a murderer? Do normal, healthy, happy people just decide to do horrible things? Not usually, it is not for us as humans to judge the actions of others, we don't know what they have been through in their lives. In heaven there is no rape and no murder and no hate or anger. So rapists will not rape in heaven and other will not hold grudges against them and judge them.

Christians believe that the only people who will get into heaven are those who believe Jesus was our saviour and died on the cross for all of our sins, and then rose on Holy Easter Sunday (Bible).
So, Its all open to interpretation. No one knows where our souls go after we die. Christians could have it all wrong. Jews could have it all wrong. Muslims could have it all wrong.
We ALL could have it wrong. Its just which ever path you believe in your heart to be true.
