Why would they "not be Christians"? Many early Christians believed this - for four centuries after Jesus' purported life. It was only after the first ecumenical council that it was established - through political meandering - that Jesus was/is divine.

Laverew: Just because Thomas the Believer calls Jesus "my God" does not imply divinity in and of itself. In particular, however, my question is really of whether there are groups that believe Jesus to be lesser than the Father.
John 14:28: " Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I."

Hope: The problem with quoting from scripture is in its translation. For example, same passage from NIV:
"I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am the one I claim to be,[a] you will indeed die in your sins."
Show me, please, where Jesus claimed to be divine.

This statement by you is incorrect: "It was only after the first ecumenical council that it was established - through political meandering - that Jesus was/is divine. "
Here are two verses that state that the apostles knew that Jesus was divine.
John 1:1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 20:28
And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Philemon 1:3

That would make them decidedly "anti"-Christian.
Jesus says that unless you believe He is God you will die in your sins.
John 8:24
Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.”
Where in Scriptures did Jesus claim to be divine?
Well, besides the Scripture quoted above, see also-
John 10:30
"I and My Father are one."
John 14:9
Jesus said to him, "Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me,Phillip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, 'show us the Father?'
John 8:58
Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.”
Revelation 1:8
“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty"-
Not to mention the countless other Scriptural proofs of the divinity of Christ.
A quick note about John 14:28, where Jesus says "the Father is greater than I", - He was not admitting inferiority to the Father,( He had claimed equality with Him repeatedly) but was saying that if the disciples loved Him, they would not be reluctant to let Him go to the Father because He was returning to the full glory He gave up (John 17:5-"And now, O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was.") He was going back to share equal glory with the Father, which would be greater than what He'd experienced in His incarnation, in which He voluntarily veiled His divine glory to follow the way of humble obedience. (see Phil.2:6-11)

I thought that in order to be saved (according to the religion) one HAD to believe Jesus is divine. I did not know this about early christian groups.

I am sorry but if you accept Jesus as your "spiritual" savior he would have to logically have some sort of divine power. And therefore of some level of divinity.
Do you mean are there groups you deny that "Jesus is God"? That is actually a completely different question. And there is many groups who do in fact deny that "Jesus is God" and still believe he is the Savior. But they will stay say that he is divine. They still say he is the Son of God.

There are a couple that promote the divinity of everyone.
They also notice that Jesus was not an exception to this rule.
The problem is not noticing that Jesus was Divine, it is not noticing that everyone else is too.

Confessing Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God is the Foundation Of the Church of Christ. This is the divinity of Jesus Christ.
And many cults may call their Jesus (who is not the Son of God) their Savior, but he isn't the same Jesus Christ of the Gospels.
There are many false Jesus & false Christs out there. There is only One Jesus Christ of Nazareth, who is the Son of the Living God. Who shed His blood on the cross of Calvary for remission of our sins & who raised from the dead so we can be raised up like Him in resurrection day complete.

i always believed in the divinity of Jesus, untill the holy spirit opened my eyes to see that he was only the first divine human who came to earth to open our eyes to our own divinity. after i discovered that i turned away from christianity to become a follower of Jesus because christians dont believe that God is all humans and that we must worship each other in love for one another.the christians believe in a outside God that must be worshiped together with the muslims, and that they both must kill human beings in their gods name,by making war
