If it's a formal dinner, either swallow them or spit them discretely in a paper napkin or something, don't hit the plate sitting up. Most of the time if it's a very formal dinner, the seeds will be removed in the kitchen, but I have on occasion crunched down on a seed when I didn't expect one (yuck!).

RE:
When eating seeded grapes, should you swallow the seeds or spit them out?

Who cares about etiquitte when eating grapes?

Do what makes you feels comfortable. If you wanna chew the grape then spit the seed in a cup you can (the floor might be rude but the ground might be ok). If you wanna cut the grapes first (which would probalbly make you look like a retard) and pull the seeds out you can. If wanna just swallow seeds (which might be uncomfortable and will have insignificant nutritional value) you can.

Do what YOU want. You do not exist to please other people when you are eating grapes. The etiquitte book can kiss off. My GF spits the grapes and I love it because thats what she like to do :)

I just eat the whole grapes, but it doesn't bother me. The seeds are full of nutritional goodness. I have eaten a lot of different things in my life, and am nearly 90 years old. Was at sea ww2, and only 16 then. No fridges on the ships then, no fresh milk, only thick tinned milk etc. and am still in the land of the living.

Ideally, you should break the grape and remove the pit before eating it. Sounds silly, huh? So the next best thing is to discretely and under cover of a napkin, remove the pit from your mouth with your fingers and place it on the side of the plate. The third option would be to spit it (noiselessly, naturally) directly into the napkin--only if the napkins are paper, never into a cloth napkin.

I don't think proper etiquette EVER allows you to spit. Get a sharp knife and cut them in half after you wash them. Once they are in half, you can easily pop the seed out. I wouldn't want to swallow the seeds.

The seeds contain the most valuable nutrients! You would be wise to chew the seeds along with the grapes. They have a slightly bitter taste but it is imperceptible if chewed along with the grapes.Swallowing them would have little nutritional value for when they are whole they are hard to digest.
