Well, I for one, just don't find the new format interesting, what was wrong with adding up a drivers total points for the year, and declaring someone the winner. This Race for the Chase crap is B.S. Why should the teams that aren't in the "Chase" even bother to race the last 10 races, I know that they could win money, and get their sponsors more air time, but they have no chance of claiming a championship if they're not in the top 12. NASCAR just isn't the same, and I'm losing my interest in it also.

I agree, I've been watching NASCAR since the 60's when the only time it was on TV was on ABC's Wide World of Sports maybe 2 or 3 times a season! I used to NEVER miss a race on TV until this chase format started, now I don't watch much anymore. NASCAR has screwed up the season points system, made all the cars the same (follow the leader and minimal passing), penalized drivers for speaking out, etc (boring, boring). The car and driver's skill used to be the most important things but not anymore.

I don't like the constant rule changes ,feel that some of the rule's are absurd and inconsistent and also don't like the Chase format and their changing it from 10 -12 because Jr and Gordon missed it one year, but I still follow the sport loyally and try to forget about the changes for the time being.I watch every race ,all 3 series just as I have since I first became a Nascar fan in 93.
I really try hard to not set and nit pick at thing's and wish that things were back to the way they used to be ,I mean theres noting that we can do about it ,our opinion's don't matter to Nascar . THEY make the rule's and change the rule's.So I just set back and enjoy the excitement of the sport I love the best.
An the way I look at it too ,the more people it drives away the better seat I'll get when I go to a race and the people that chose to turn away were never loyal to Nascar any how.

I have been/was a fan for over 10 years. I have not seen one race this season. I am tired of the whining and the canned responses from these pretty boys. It is not all about the racing anymore. They care more about brand image and marketing than racing. That is all well and good in MODERATION. Besides that it has become prohibitively expensive for normal families to attend a race. To add to it the tv coverage has been abysmal this year. It has driven me away because they all drive the same cars, say the same things, whine and generally they are all clones. I have found better things to do than sit through what now appears the same as the same category of the WWE on wheels. I am convinced that some if not all these races are rigged in one way or the other. It all sucks and I truly am sorry I can not be a fan anymore. For 10 years it was a big part of my life. At one point it even took precedence over my NFL viewing. Not anymore.

I haven't lost an interest in NASCAR but what I don't like is the chase for the cup. It pretty much sucks. Why should a driver that over 600 points out of 1st after 26 races be considered for a championship when under old point system would be eliminated & under the chase rules is only 60 points out of contention for a championship. Bring back old system where if you finish consistently in top 5, you have good shot at title or re-do this whole chase thing, not start eveybody at the same point level. 10 bonus points for a win is not enough if you are going to re-start all 12 drivers wiith 5000 points. Give bonus points for poles and/or # of top 5's.

Great question and great comment and I agree with you. I too was a huge fan of NASCAR, however, since Brian France took over, the series hasn't been the same. Also, not to bring up the past, but since DE Sr. died, NASCAR hasn't been the same. Drivers getting treated more and more like their in romper room and not being allowed to race the way racing use to be.
I didn't watch one race this year and don't intend to watch NASCAR until racing is once again the main reason for 43 drivers to put their lives in danger.

I'm the same way. I would break out of jail not to miss a race. I was/am a huge Sr. fan but was even like that for several years after he was no longer with us. Now if I have something better to do, I'll just read about it. I think alot of it comes with how I feel the sport has become so money driven instead of talent driven.

I slowly changed from the NFL to NASCAR some odd years ago. NASCAR was awesome with all the banging and driver drama. Frances now turned the sport upside down with this Race for Chase and they seem to favor drivers with the rules.
Yes, I could care less to watch the race unless me and my buddies are drinking and I am in some kind of NASCAR Pool at work. Then I don't care who wins as long as my driver I pulled for that week is in the top 5.

I have been a NASCAR fan for about 14 years & hate to miss a race. I have planned 2 week vacations around races & have traveled all over the country for races. When I can't go to races I am glued to my t.v. on race day.
I have dropped my NFL sunday ticket for Direct tv hot pass so I can ride with my driver (GO JEFF BURTON!!) when he is on there.
I think it's safe to say NO, NASCAR has not driven me away & i don't see it happening any time soon..
GO RCR!!!
GO # 31!!!!!!

Nope... Not yet anyways! I do agree w/ you though that NASCAR is driving parts of their fan base away. I have more friends than not that have stopped watching it completely, and a few like you that don't mind missing an entire race or 2. Changes are part of sports, and life in general. Not much we can do about it, and if you enjoy PURE RACING then you will always enjoy NASCAR.
IF, and that's a big IF, I do miss a race.. I always set my DVR, or catch it all on SPEED (either Victory Lane, or WindTunnel)
