I have nothing against Bowyer or RCR,but it's always odd when a team that hasn't done much all year shows up and just crushes the field like that. Don't give me that line about it being impossible. The FIA couldn't police traction control, so why would Nascar be able to?

You're getting the wrong message. Think about this. Everyone in the chase has a win except Bowyer. Nascar probably doesn't like that, so he comes out and wins the first race. Most of the other drivers also have dirt experience and great car control. All of a sudden Bowyer is a better driver than Stewart and Gordon?

I can almost guarantee most of the top drivers have had some form of traction control on their cars, especially in the 90's. I don't mind that he won, but he was in a whole different league. Noone got near him all day. Can't help but wonder how or why? No car is that perfect throughout a race from start to finish. If Bowyer's setup was that good, why didn't Harvick or Burton try it?

NASCAR can police it because you don't have any of the onboard stuff (computers, sensors, etc.) for a vehicle for traction control.
No, he won that race learning how to drive on dirt where you must have excellent pedal control to get the best bite coming off of the corners.

Sounds like a jealous Gordon fan if y'ask me...

It was just a case of a driver having a car that was leaps and bounds ahead of the pack. And don't tell me that Bowyer and the #07 team hasn't done much this year...they got into the Chase for the Nextel Cup and that's doing much to me at least. Finishing the Daytona 500 on your roof...that's doing something, but that's a whole 'nother story. I'd keep an eye on Boywer and the #07 now that they've got the big MO on their side...you saw what happened after Martin Truex won his first race. I wouldn't be surprised to see Boywer reel off some more top-5's or maybe get another win before the season runs out.

And to answer your question on traction control...first, it would probably slow the car down enough to where it wouldn't be competitive And second, NASCAR would have likely caught it in pre-race inspection...which means they would've taken his ride and told the crew chief and/or lead engineer to hit the bricks.

Maybe they had some other part or setup working for them but they definitely did not use traction control.

Traction control is a computerized system that links wheel speed sensors to the throttle controls, fuel mapping and engine managment system. F1 cars have all of these systems on all of their cars anyway and so the FIA would have had to have complex telemetry data capture and testing of that data to see if the cars had traction control. Nascar cars have none of the systems mentioned above so unless the nascar tech inspectors knew nothing about cars or were paid off the traction control systems would stick out like a sore thumb as soon as you open the hood. In addition, I don't know if it is even possible to put traction control on any carbureted car period.

I am not saying there wasn't cheating but I know it wasn't traction control.

WHAT???
you cant be serious!!!! everyone complains that the races are sooo boring theres nothing exciting that happens anymore, you have a good consistent driver & a good consistent team like childress take the pole, lead the most laps, win the race and leave everyone in the dust.....and you say its odd!!!! whats odd about that??? they have all 3 drivers from there team in the chase!!! they have all been consistent all year and have all finished well in the races....harvick won at daytona!!! burton won....and now bowyer....so whats the question??
theres nothing for them to police the car goes straight to inspection after victory lane......there has been no announcements of any wrong doings soooooo.......
why is it so hard to understand why he won??? he has done enough this year by being consistent and so has the whole rcr team THERE IN THE CHASE....id say that falls in the category of doing more than enough.....
what do you consider not done much all year???
that seems like plenty to me....and its not just cuz i am a rcr fan its just plain facts and stats....and those dont lie......
GO HARVICK & RCR!!!

DALE SR. FOREVER THE MAN!!!

Here we go with the cheating again. We all NASCAR just must be blind...despite they can catch 1/64 inch off on the frame or piece of fender.

With all the Gordon haters and accusing Gordon of cheating all the time, I am surprised that someone hasn't found a way to blame Bowyer's win on Gordon's team somehow.

The cheating accusations are getting way too old already!

A team that hasn't done much all year?????? What are you talking about??? The 07 team is in the chase!!!!! Out of 43 drivers he is one of the top 12!!! Clint won the race because he had a fast car! No cheating!!! Just great racing!!!! You betcha Harvick and Burton will compare notes with Bowyer so they can see where they went wrong with their set up!

Go RCR!!!

Nope. One driver pointed out once that if you had traction control in your car, there'd be no way you could do a burnout, 'cause the wheels wouldn't lose grip and start spinning. If I recall, Bowyer did a pretty good one Sunday.

This driver (if I could remember who the hell it was I'd say so) said you'd know who was using TC because they wouldn't be able to do a burnout.

Why would you think something like that???? Just because he had the best car in the field all week end & smoked everyone else???
Clint and the JD team have been working towards this goal since he came to NEXTELcup 2 years ago & here he finally wins his 1st ever NEXTEL cup race & you have to think he was cheating...get real!!!
This is just the 1st in a long list of wins for Clint so get used to seeing the # 07 in victory lane....

The guy grew up racing on dirt tracks in the Midwest, that right there is enough for me to believe that he just had the best car. Its not like the guy was a slouch all season long, he is in the chase, so it could have been expected that he would win a race during the 10 chase races. I still dont think he is going to win the title, but I wont question the fact that he won the race. The guy is barely a blip on the radar, but he makes the chase, he wins a race, and now everyone thinks he is cheating. The guy has got some talent, he just happens to be the third car at RCR.

Hey, he had a great day, since he is the number three driver on the team everyone thinks he cheated...He just had the best car, and he was the hottest guy out there on the track, fair and simple...Great race Clint.

I can't believe it. It seems when ever anyone of the drivers does exceptionally well, there is always someone out there who thinks he or his crew cheated.

I'm not a Bowyer fan but, kudos to him for his season and his win.
