I would agree -- this sounds like a possible hernia, but there are some other things to rule out as well.

Constipation would more likely "hurt" on the LEFT side of the body, since that is last part of the large intestine before it goes to the rectum. You can usually discern this by laying on your back and pressing down on the LEFT side of your lower abdomen. If you haven't had a BM in a couple of days or more, then get something to help.

The other thing that comes to mind is a condition called EPIDIDYMITIS. It commonly elicits an ache up into the groin and towards the back of the penis (perianal area). This can be infectious, or not. Usually I see this in young men who often wear non-supportive underwear (like boxers), and who are athletically active. The easiest way to see if this is the problem, is to lift up your testicles and hold them there for a moment. If the discomfort starts to ease up -- there's your answer.

There's always the possibility of appendicitis as well, so get that ruled out.

Bottom line: The best thing to do is to get it checked out. Go see your medical care provider soon.

Best of luck to you!

p.s. -- and the liver is NOT in the lower right quad of the intestines. It is in the UPPER right hand quad.

Lower right quadrant is where your liver is.
If it's constipation, you would know it if you had problems passing stools. For that, eat a diet higer in fiber and drink plenty of water and eat fresh fruits and vegetables to hydrate yourself.
