For almost two weeks, I've had trouble moving my bowels. I get the sensation in my abdomen that it's about to happen, but when I go nothing or very little. I began to eat a lot of fresh fruit/veggies, had a couple of bowl of bran flakes and drinking lots of water but it didn't change. Then last night around 8pm I had an Exlax. So far this morning, I've gone once but it was hard, little balls kinda like large Milk Dud candies and I had to strain to get them out. Nothing at all like usually happens when you use a laxative. What should I do? I REALLY need to go!

I just want to clarify that I HAVE had a bowel movement in the two weeks, they've just been very difficult to pass. If I had gone two weeks and NOT had one, I would have been in the ER a long time ago! :)

Try a Fleets Mineral Oil enema, but one time only! Hold it in as long as you can. I would predict that you would have a rather large BM. Continue the high fiber diet and take a gentle laxative such as 1 - 2 tablespoonsful of Milk of Magnesia each evening for a week. If your symptoms persist, then you should consult your doctor.

Well, if it's been two weeks, it's time to call your family doctor...otherwise a trip to the Emergency Room is not too far away. There can be many different things wrong, from being dehydrated, to not getting enough exercise, to having a bowel obstruction or intussucception. If not having a bowel movement for two weeks is normal for you, that's one thing, but take some responsibility here and go to a professional.

Blood may be seen in any actual discharge or would seem as undiluted blood. it would desire to continually be stated to a doctor. If the blood is from the vast bowel or anus, it's going to be bright pink and could be gone via itself or mixed with a action. If the blood is from larger up in the digestive tract - from a gastric or duodenal ulcer - the action may be black and tarry by using fact of digestive action. maximum situation-loose motives are: severe nostril-bleed or taking iron or bismuth (black action); Piles (pink action). much less probable motives: Duodenal or Gastric Ulcer, Cirrhosis of the liver; abdomen and Bowel maximum cancers; Ulcerative Colitis; Polyposis or Diverticular ailment of the colon; Schistosomiasis in some countries.

Sounds like you need something to help soften your stools. Try using Milk of Magnesia. It'll help draw water into your intestines. Make sure you continue to drink plenty of water. And maybe cut back on dairy and meat a little bit.

You need something to soften you up. Eat foods high in fiber and take a fiber suppliment like metamucil. You mix it with a glass of water and drink and prolly the next day you will go softly.

Drink lots of water - then try using an enema. A little discomfort but it is very much worth it. Also, no bananas - they constipate .

I would suggest eating something with pumpkin- and drink some hot tea. Also, spiced wafers or ginger snaps with hot tea will help stimulate- anything with pumpkin and/or cinnamon in it- combine this with hot tea will soften you up.

Consult your doctor about this, I think it has been going on for too long and I'm sure you are in lots of discomfort. Good Luck!!!
