Ugh, I just had a rough weekend, 2 months before my wedding and I go for my first fitting. I knew the top didn't fit due from weight gain and I think changing birth control (it's all in my bust!) but when I bought it they said they could take it in our out 3". Well, this dress could NOT be taken out, not at all..... And then they noticed it was yellowing around the neck!! Don't buy a clearance dress off the rack! So they were very nice about it and check the computer and called ever store that look like they may have had the dress to have it shipped down. Since the dress was bought 1 year ago- they didn't have ANY! They had me sit down- to calm down and gave me store credit and a sales person to find another dress. My choices were limited because the dress had been in stock so I could get it in October! This is what I picked! I am very curvy so I was looking for something that was vintage looking and flattered my figure..
I got it with the train and with a pink ribbon.

Yeah, this happen at David's bridal.
And I am not having a bow- I am using a pin that I have that is a replica of the one Jackie O use to own and wear.

David's Bridal was actually very nice about the whole thing and try to keep me calm and they got me a sales person in split second so I didn't panic.

I don't know what the first one looked like, but I think you found a beautiful dress.
I also went through David's Bridal, and I have no major complaints. The girl next to me had on a lacy style dress and I thought it was gorgeous. Don't worry, it will work out.
I had to go through several dresses because when I started looking in March, I was a size 14. By the time I had to go fo a final fitting, I dropped to a size 8.

David's gave me the runaround to bubbs. They tried to sell me a dress that was so filthy that there was no way that traditional cleaning would get the stains out. After the treatment I got there, I refuse to ever shop with those people again. I ended up finding a dress very similarly priced and much nicer at a traditional bridal shop. It was a locally owned one and they have been absolutley fabulous. The consultants spend as much time with you as you need and they don't try to rush you out the door or talk you into buying anything. When they thought my dress was going to be discontinued, they called me and demanded an answer from the manufacturer on my behalf. Turned out the sales lady for the manufacturer was trying to pull a fast one. I had actually planned on buying that same dress you picked from David's and decided against it. I've heard horror stories about their ordering and that they push the deadlines to try and force you to buy from the rack. I would just go somewhere else if I were you. Its not worth the heartache and hassle to deal with it. Regular bridal shops can get a dress in for you in time if you get moving. Good luck! I hope you find something fabulous.

I'm sorry to hear about this bubs! I know that you loved the other dress, it was a great find! But better now than later, imagine if they simply refused to refund you.
I love the substitute dress. I actually considered that one. and GOOD FOR YOU that you are not having no CORNY and stupid bows!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thumbs up for you for that! Your fashion sense is impecable (such as mine, may I add LoL!).
The idea of the broch is fabulous and it will give you the vintage effect that you wanted. The new dress is gorgeous and I'm sure that you will look ravishing.
Congratulations and good luck!!!!!!!!!!
PS/ I'm ordering my dress online custom made, finally found non-corny invites, got colors. I'm making progress here.

Bubs, I'm actually making a near replica of that dress for my daughter's high school graduation dress. My pattern just calls for a sweetheart neckline--which I like a little better than a straight neckline. But I'm doing a lace overlay just like this dress--if I can find lace I like. ;-) I think it's gorgeous, and I'm so glad you were able to get the dress issue fixed. And I'm glad they took care of you, David's is not known for taking care of their clients--mostly what I've heard is their attitude is "too bad, so sad, but we've still got your money!"

I'm sorry this happened, but this kind of thing does happen. It sounds like David's Bridal was very sympathetic and accomodating (they can't make a dress appear that doesn't exist!). Your second dress is beautiful! I don't know what the original looked like, but I really like this one! Best wishes to you.

That dress is GORGEOUS! You will look lovely! I love all the detail on it! I have 9 months to go and have picked out a dress but am putting off ordering it b/c I am afraid of weight gain/loss, you know? I think I will order it 6 months before. :)
You will look fabulous, regardless! That dress is sooo pretty!

I have heard a lot of people complain about David's Bridal and thats why I plan to go to another bridal store here in Philadelphia. I have heard they charge so much for alterations you can buy another dress for what they charge. They are ridiculous. Hope all works out for you.

wow, you are SO lucky they let you exchange it, most bridal stores wouldn't even consider such a thing! I hate Davids, but you must have found the one good one out there! Your new dress is VERY pretty, I love all the lace, and I think your pin idea sounds lots better! :)

Try looking online for a similar dress, and see if it can be rush shipped to you (it's possible for a fee for some dresses). I recommend netbride.com . They sell DaVinci dresses (among others) that tend to be very close in styling to David's Bridal dresses.
Also, check e-bay. There are a lot of people selling brand new dresses, you may get lucky and find something great!

Oh, I'm SO sorry that happened to you!!!! I can't imagine how stressful it was (still is!) for you!!
The dress you picked, however, is stunning. Absolutely stunning, and I'm sure you're gorgeous in it!
