A little more info might be helpful. :)
Just how is he/she acting? He/she might be really missing his/her grandfather.

any kind of stress or change in their life can make them act out. like for example, my 2 yr old started acting out a lot more after his sister was born. also he acts out a lot when my husband has to work a lot of overtime. things like that really set him off. i hope you find a way of dealing with the behavior. i know it is frustrating.

if it is caused by the father-in-law, shift him out, you your spouse and child are a family, you do not need another member of the family in the house, if it is for a holiday okay, permanent he must go
