You are not going to have time to react faster than the deer will.
I have killed many deer in my truck - and I know first hand that they can jump - faster than you can think.
Next time apply your brakes, and try to avoid it altogether.

The best is to not hit at all, but since you said that avoiding is out of the question... so...
I think where you hit doesn't really matter, its just how much injury you cause to the deer and whether you bring it to a vet / hospital.

I love your question.But lets get real. If you find the time to make a choise of front or rear you are a better driver than most drivers i know.Your real choise is to not hit anything.Bambi gets to live another day.

Generally, you won't have time to decide. It does not matter where you hit it, it is going to do alot of damage and be very messy.
