You are correct in that; I cannot prove anything to a person of faith. The definition of faith is to "believe" something without proof.
In that sense, it requires no faith whatsoever to be a freethinking agnostic or an atheist. Atheism assumes nothing and "believes" nothing without evidence.
Atheism is like the WYSIWYG computer screen; What You See Is What You Get.
It's that simple, elegant, refreshing, true and therefore uplifting.
One thing I CAN prove to any Christian who has eyes to see and ears to hear; Where the mythology of Christianity and many other religions came from.
Christianity, like many other religions, is and astrologically-based mythology of the celestial calendar.
The many references in the Bible to “fish” are directly related to the constellation Pisces and the "Age" of Pisces.
The myth of "Crucifixion" and "resurrection" comes from the winter solstice when the sun temporarily "dies" at the horizon under the constellation "Crux". The "Crux" constellation forms a “cross” in the sky around December 22nd, 23rd, and 24th. Then, on December 25th, the sun starts rising again, signaling the “rebirth” of the sun (son) and the impending return of spring. Not coincidentally, the three stars that attend Sirius and point to the new sunrise are called “The Three Kings.”
When you realize that ancient astronomy and astrology were essentially the same things, you can see how facts and Gnostic myths were combined to form Christianity.
If you would like to know more about this subject, download and view the movie “Zeitgeist.” It is very informative about many religions including Christianity.
Atheism and agnosticism both require no "faith."
Faith is an irrational belief without reason.
Atheism is the lack of irrationality.
Atheism is based on Reason.

As to the proof question: I don't think one can prove or disprove the existence of God scientifically or philosophically. (I have put a relevant book name in the sources box below.) "Faith" of some sort is necessary to answer either way. I think reasonable people can go either way, with good reasons.
As to who has more "faith": I don't think one can generalize. There are so many variations among different belief sets that are called "atheist" or that are called "Christian," and individuals and their circumstances vary so widely, that I just don't think any real general answer is possible or useful.

Not in the least. It takes no faith at all to realize we don't have any concrete answers and must rely on science to continue the search for answers to our universe. If ever someone has "faith" in a science or a theory or any other concept, he is no longer an atheist but has become one of the faithful. Simple really.

No, I disagree. I think it takes more faith to believe something that doesn't have a shred of proof to back up its claims. That's why theists always give the "you have to have faith" argument. All I need to do to not believe in god is think "is there any reason for me to believe there is a god?". And for me, the answer is no.
~~EDIT~~
Does no one realize what the saying "you can't prove a negative" means?? It means that you can't prove something is NOT (fill in the blank). The burden of proof lies with the ones trying to prove that something is, as opposed to the ones saying that something is not. Does that explanation make sense outside of my head?

rofl. It doesn't matter if you think jesus is your savior or not. Jesus doesn't likely even exist. It takes faith to believe in something imaginary that you've never met, you've never heard, you've never even seen with your own two eyes or had any REAL experience with in any way.
its all in your head.
But Atheists deal with facts. Things that can be proven through competant long term testing.
Its your religion that takes faith, honey, not Atheism. Deal with it.

I believe it does take faith to be atheist. You have to have faith in yourself that you are right and all Christians are wrong. But let me ask this if all Christians are wrong why are there so many of us. How can it be, with all numbers to prove it. You can go into any situation and find a Christian and being faced with death I believe they lose faith in themselves, then want to turn to Jesus

It doesn't matter how much or how loud you say it, it's not going to make it true.
That's like saying that it takes more faith to not believe in leprechauns or Zeus than it does not to. With absolutely no proof of the existence of god, how is it an act of faith to not believe?

Actually,I can,using your bible.Jesus said
John 14:12
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
This AFTER he walked on water, fed the 5,00.So it is CLEARLY "In context"
One can come up with several possible outcomes of this text
1)Jesus didn't say that(throw out your bible then,it's obviously bogus if he didn't say it)
2)Jesus lied(throw out the bible then)
3)Jesus was wrong(throw out the bible)
OR
4)There are NO believers,so he isn't saving you from jack
There it is,in context, your book.I'm playin' YOUR field. Can YOU walk on water? If not, pick an option. Not believing takes common sense, not faith.Believing takes more than faith,it takes outright gullibility.

The Bible clearly states that "Without faith, it is impossible to please God". It also says that, "Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not yet seen."
In that sense, atheist do not have any faith. They need to see everything to believe it.

You can't disprove Russell's teapot either. It takes faith to be a christian, but not so much for an Atheist. Faith is a cognitive crutch that allows you do forgo logic.
