if there ever was a war betwen the u.s and iran we know who backs the u.s :uk,isreal and the EU and in iran?

but do people actully believe rusia and china two contries ho have permenent seat in the u.n would risk that just to help iran?

Just like no one backed Iraq.

And it's just silly to think that Russia and China would go to war over Iran.

That would be like America going to war over Jordan.

Actually Russia and China have both either "passed" or voted for the UN sanctions against Iran; they would help Iran because the government there is a threat to them also; large Muslim population in central Asia makes both a little nervous about Iran and the radical Islamic groups. Funding someone does not mean you like them and neither has been huge supporters of the Islamic extremeist in recent times. If the UN got bogged down in politics the EU/NATO could act on their own in this and I do not think that is out of the question. Iran would have no official friends or allies and very little support either officially or unofficially.

Greetings. what makes you think that the European Union would back the aggressor nation (U.S.) instead of a sovereign country that is not threatening anyone? Remember Europe had Adolf Hitler and his pre-emptive wars, concentration camps and Gestapo. They are not about to back the new version called the Republican U.S. U.K. backs the U.S.? its prime minister does for money and favors received, the people do not. Israel? they back themselves, not us. as long as it is to their advantage they will back us, when it is not to their advantage they will back the other side. Politics. And you think Russia, the only other big holder of nuclear weapons and China with the worlds biggest military and population are nothing to worry about? And seats in the U.N., does that mean something? we belong to the U.N. and we invade nations on whim without any justification and ignore all treaties that we signed. Membership in the U.N. means nothing, it is a toothless old hag that has no power at all. Russia would back Iran because it would be seen in the eyes of the world as backing the victim in a senseless attack by a neo-Nazi state and would give them points with small nations all over the world. China would back Iran for the same reason. People generally do not like communism. But by backing Iran they give the impression of caring for small nations rather then lusting after them as we are doing.

If war broke out between the US and Iran there would be no reason to have the UN anymore, since that would probably turn into a world war.

So yeah, I think that they'd risk it. It's not like their seat in the council actually matters anyways. They saw that when the US went into Iraq after the security council voted against it.

Russia is helping Iran right now actually with some stuff. If there ever was a war though they'd stay out of it militarily although I wouldn't be surprised if they provided the Iranians with some assistance.

Russia would certainly back Iran and it's not certain that the U.K. and EU would back the USA after the debacle of Iraq.
