I was going to say big white tiles but It also depends on the colour of the suite. I would match that but go for a plain tile. Colour can be added by the accessories and blind etc.

white will make the room feel bigger, but dont you think it would look boring/plain? if you do opt for white either incorporate a border somewhere along the line as your tiling or maybe a pattern with a different colour tile!

You definately need to chose big tiles as opposed to small ones. and white would be good but I also think cream would be good too. I have large white tiles in my bathroom with a black tiled floor and chrome accessories. I really like it but now I half wish I had chosen cream.
I also chose matt tiles as opposed to shiny ones because matt ones don't show the annoying water marks that make you feel like you have to constantly wash your tiles down.

you can use beidge tiles to go for something neutral and not too plain.. use bigger size tiles. and make sure the wall of ur basin is mostly the looking mirror. im guessing the bathroom is small so that wall wont be too big, you will got a lot of space to see yourself and a nice whole wall mirror will make your bathroom feel bigger. and when you need shelves dont use wooden or colored or ceramic use the glass, or transparent shelves they look cool, n dont come on you.

white tiles will certainly brighten up a small dark room, but just a point, i had exactly the same problem, had a small dark bathroom and put mirrored tiles up, will double the appearance of space. you could do both, say 3 walls white and 1 wall mirrored.

I would go for 6x6inch tiles in white, pastel cream or similar shade.
Keep the floor and paintwork light, use a bright bulb and avoid anything other than the basic fittings. If the room has a window go for a plain white blind.

I'd go for mirror tiles if the bathroom is small and dark. They'll make the room look bigger and more vibrant.
