Here's my explanation (I am a Muslim):

Muslims can worship God without images or icons. Hindus feel that they need to have an object in front of them, and that object represents the 'way' to God. In other words, they can make a Kaaba out of anything and use it as a directional symbol to "bhagwan" (God).

Edit:
Don't inflame Hindus because they go totally nuts when Muslims (especially Pakistanis) do that. They don't have the sagacity and patience of Christians.

Non Muslims do not worship stone Idols. There is only one god or creator no matter what you call him. People should get over religious intolerance and accept that underneath we are all the same under the eyes of the creator. The Trappings of various religions are created by men and not god so that those men can have power over others. Religion should be personal just between you and your god.

You fail to understand. Hindu's believe that God has manifested many times and the idols are representing a form of God that as He manifest. Each appearance was endowed with a prominent quality and they are not worshiping the stone itself, but calling upon that quality and surrendering themselves to that quality.

Khan dost, worship anything is foolish it makes you a slave.
Tell me where is God.
It is no where to be found.
So what is the purpose of worship of Allah
It is like chasing air.
Allah hu Akbar -- Allah is not in grave.
Actually allah is nowhere.
But mullah is everywhere.
Whether it is mullah of muslims
or panda of hindus
they are everywhere
but their deity are absent.
Or they are present in the absent
minded.
Buddha says -- "Dont believe
on any philosophy(of God),
rather mind,
mind your business,
put all efforts into what you do."

Chasing air makes you return
EMPTYHANDED.

I think Muslims, who five times a day turn to face a rock in Saudi Arabia in order to pray, should be careful to heed that old proverb about glass houses.

It would probably be best to worry about one's own idolatries, and leave other religions to worry about themselves.
