they should be fine after a while.

I have 2 cats just over a year old and a jack russell/yorkie cross who is 8 mths old. they get on fine most of the time, although they do get jealous if im petting one and not the other.

they share food and water and only occasionally will they have a little fight but its soon stopped.

just make sure you dont leave the kitten alone with the dog because accidents will happen. its most likely that your dog will be more scared of the kitten.

I have a 13-week-old JRT, and a 13-year-old cat. The cat wants absolutely nothing to do with the puppy, and the puppy is just dying to play with the cat and doesn't understand why the cat always hisses and growls at her. In my experience it is easier to introduce a dog to a new kitten than the other way around. Just make sure to never leave them alone together. I've heard horror stories about Jack Russells being cat killers, but it's difficult to make generalizations and it all depends on the individual dog.

My 1 year old jack russell LOVES my kittens. I got 2 when he was about 7 months old and as first, he wasn't really sure what to think of them but I made sure they were never alone together until they acclimated to each other. Now they are the best of friends. Remember, cats, even young ones, will naturally protect themselves. My kittens were very afraid of him at first and it took about 3 weeks before they stopped going for the dog but if you leave them be and let them realize he is a friend, they will be fine eventually. The jack russell was actually friendlier to the cats than they were to him at first.

I have a JR. Had here since 5 weeks young, also we owned a cat and the JR and the cat played well together.
The cat passed on and Rianna will chase the local cats but not with aggression only playful, but tell the cats that.
Anyway most cats will stand up for them selfs and when that happens she will back off,all she wants to do is play.
JR 'S as you have learned are very intelligent dogs and with training will live together.
Enjoy your Jack Russell my mute is 8 years of age and we love her.

I brought both my terriers into the house as pups with an older resident cat. The all live together, not in harmony, but without bloodshed. When I had Corgis, Gus came into the house as a kitten, the females groomed him and were happy to hang out with him. Terriers are vermin hunters and instinctively chase anything smaller that moves. I probably would't bring another kitten into the house now.

you can put any twp types of animal together if you do it correctly and responsibly. my dad in law has 2 rat terriers ..and a big tom cat they all play together nicely, if you tell them to "get the fuzz" they will go and wrestle the cat and he will roll on his back and swat at them playfully...its so comical lol.

He wants to play with it is all. A wagging tail is usually a sign that the dog is just wanting to play. I just would not leave them unsupervised because he could get carried away and hurt it on accident.

yes,of course you can get a kitten.when you get a kitten, allow them to near each other and remember to watch them as the dog might attack that kitten.when you are not around, separate them until they could get along well. you must also beware of the consequence as they might have identity confusion(the kitten will think of itself as dog while the dog will think of itself as a cat).

Russels are "ratters" once used to go into burrows and kill rodents. Not a great mix for cats. Let them meet on neutral ground - not at your house - and they may get along.
