Thats a good question. But, it will only provoke a lot of answers based entirely on the writers religious viewpoint. My answer can only be that children are a product of their environment.
If the parents are strong believers in a faith, they will endeavour to raise their child with their beliefs. The same goes for parents who are racist, greedy, muslim, atheist, democrat, replubican, black, white or chinese.
the only important thing to take from this quote is the message it gives us. WE are the ones responsible for bringing up our children to know right from wrong, it's WE who should give them the information for them to make their own choices. WE should teach them to be tolerant of anothers views but be strong enough to stand up for what THEY CHOOSE TO BELIEVE IN. I'm not religious, my son is.
He made up his own mind, I gave him information and the places to get more ideas, more knowledge and his own identity.
When you start TELLING them what they believe, they have no faith, only fear of failing you.

But thats just my way of thinking, I've read all of the answers above, some are good, some are bad. No doubt someone will disagree with me, but, that's the way of things.

Your abdomen upsetness is a area psychosomatic, area your abdomen rejecting having a seed in it. think of approximately it- abdomen acid isn't basic stuff. it could smash down merely approximately something you consume. How could a seed survive that, lots greater hit upon a place to stay rooted and alter right into a plant, with tummy pollution and no photograph voltaic?

Well no theologian invaded my cradle. I had no sort of religious upbringing and found God in my thirties.

YES!

Theologians are... Ack!

Religion, is just...

Let's just say.

Can't we say the ocean or a tree is beautiful because it *is*. Not because "god made it"?
Can't we see people (most of them anyway) as being beautiful as themselves, rather then as "one of god's children"?

What's with the obsession with other people's believes and sex lives anyway?

KEEP YOUR HANDS AWAY FROM MY SEX LIFE!

:D

What does a theologian know about God?

You want to know how people know about God? It isnt through brainwashing of children. Its from personal experience with Him.

So you would rather one teach your kid that it's survival of the fittest, kill or be killed, trust no one, protect your genome, be bias, be a racist, be ruthless in everything, their is no God so it's all on you son? And that won't freak him out? That their is no source for applying real goodness or value to things or no absolute standard for right and wrong. Won't he hate the injustice and grow remorseful at his own feelings and sentiments of what is really good and beautiful?
