Earth and the universe had a beginning. That's what the big bang is all about. About 95-100% of the scientists believe the big bang. But you could show that the universe had a beginning in other ways using the laws of thermodynamics. The 2nd law of thermodynamics says that the universe has a finite amout of usable energy and it's running down. That tells us that the universe can't be infinitely old because an infinite amount of time will always exhuast a finite amout of energy. Yet all the energy hasn't been used. Therefore you don't have an infinitely old universe. It had to have a beginning.
The law of cause and effect(which Einstein called the most reliable of all the physical laws) says that anything that had a beginning needs a cause. We've already shown that the universe had a beginning. So the universe needs a cause. Everywhere you look in the universe you see design. . You just can't logically and realistically deny that there's design all through the universe. It's all around you. You have to be blind not to see it. There are branches of science that basically just study the design in nature.........scientific disciplines such as nano-technology and bio-mimicry. These disciplines study the design in nature.......whales,bats,dolphins... have sonar.......and try to create machines that mimic that design. There’s even a weekly program on the science channel that looks at the design in nature trying to find leads for technology.
Hence, the universe not only needs a cause but that cause has to be a designer. But design is inseparable from intelligence. If you find a watch somewhere, you know it had to be built by an intelligent watchmaker. So your cause of the universe not only has to be a designer but it must be an intelligent designer. Hence, reason tells you that the creator of the universe is an intelligent designer. Who could create a universe? You call Him whatever you want. I call Him God.
Therefore, to summarize, the reason why the universe needs a creator is because of the law of cause and effect which says that anything that had a beginning needs a cause. The universe had a beginning.
Why does God not need a cause? Because the law of cause and effect only pertains to physical things. The law of cause and effect is one of the physical laws of the universe. It can't pertain to God because created the universe and the law of cause and effect is part of the universe. God created the law of cause and effect. He was there before the law of cause and effect began(it began at the start of the universe). The law of cause and effect pertains only to physical things. God is not physical. God is spiritual. Physical things need a beginning. Spiritual things don't NECESSARILY need a begining.

There are aspects of the Bible that disagree with different aspects (for example, Genesis a million says guy became created after different animals, yet Genesis 2 says the different). for this reason, the Bible can't all be actually actual. 2. we don't place our palms on the Bible anymore, and don't say "so help me God" the two. When the Bible declares that God is the Creator of the universe it indicates that God Himself is not created. It is impossible for something to create itself. Not even God can make Himself.

Great question. The answer I can assure you is not an obvious one. You see people believe in God because people sub-conciously believe in "Nothing"
To say that God created this and that is to say that at one time everything was "Nothing"

Deep in the minds of the human physce, we have a picture of what the Universe once was. The picture is Blank. Then we imagine that picture be filled up with all of the energy and matter in the Universe. But how? The answer is God.

You see people do not believe that everything could just be. They believe there had to be a cause of everything. But I can assure you, this train of thinking can be misleading. Because what they actually believe is not God but they believe in Nothing.

To answer your question - the reason why people believe God can exist without being created is, because this is the limit of the human construct. The mind is inifinte in imagination but not in scope. You see it has it`s limitations. What you have just touched on is the limitation of the human construct of God in that he can exist without being created. The imagination cannot superceed this point, because if it did then God would not be God.

Hiya , thats a good question , one that I am sure most people think at one time or another.

You see , God is unlike ALL other creatures.
God is a spirit creature sure , just as Jesus is , but hew is still different.
His firstborn son Jesus and all of the lower angels etc , and then down to human are all created beings.

God simply is not the same as these others , his make up is different , because of this , he doesn't have a beginning as we comprehend it.

The problem is with our limited comprehension and not the fact that God wasn't created.
