The problem is that your "reading" the bible.
Don't read it study it read one verse or chapter and think about that chapter or verse and see what you can come up with. Ask who, what, why, were, when. Then you will be learning and want to study it more.
Try it ;) God Bless!

Gosh, Applebeer, it isn't at all boring to me, and I'm an atheist. I get a big kick out of reading about burning your daughter alive as a sacrifice to God, that talking snake, walking on water, a virgin birth, rising from the dead, genocide, dashing babies against a wall, selling your daughters into sexual slavery, stoning your child to death for sassing back, rape, incest, a talking donkey, living three days in the belly fo a whale, a woman turning into a big old pile of salt, having a bear kill a gaggle of brats for making fun of a bald old man, filling a boat with literally millions of living creatures from all over the planet and drowning countless human beings, men, women, and children, because God was ticked off, etc.,etc. I mean, kid, that's helluva great fiction!

I think the archaic language makes it hard for modern readers to understand. It gets frustrating to try to figure out words that became obsolete many years ago and what they mean. While the language in the Bible might be beautiful, it would be better to have a good modern translation so people can understand it better.

Maybe you need to develop a study plan. The Bible is not like a novel that we pick up and read straight through.

I think you are trying to read to much at once and possible reading it with a closed mind you need only read a little and ask God to guide you starting with the gosples is a good idea.

the Old Testament is a struggle getting thru the 'who begot who' over and over, and preparing animal sacrifice over and over. Psalms and Proverbs are awesome, and the Songs of Solomon are romantic. The New Testament is interesting. We really need to read all of it, beginning to end.

It is very badly written, has a somewhat silly story line that is unbelieveable in most parts...why wouldn't you be bored. As a book, it must be taken as a nonliteral piece of 'self help' , certainly not literally as many do...very foolish, for literal translations fly in the face of what we know. Good luck

Don't feel so bad man...Most Christians don't read the bible, thats why they are still Christian. it's easier to go to church and hear a pastor read 1 verse and go on and on about it, rather then doing an indepth study.
