Terry Fox is a young Canadian who discovered he had cancer at a young age. At 18 his leg was amputated; his dream was to raise money for cancer research, the goal was $1 for each Canadian; and jog across Canada. He dipped his foot in Newfoundland on April 12th, 1980, and began his way to BC, a job across the second largest country in the world.

It rained, people didn't participate as much....sadly people weren't interested. Then things started to change...Canadians took noticed...soon there were thousands lined up on his route...

He sadly passed away before he could finish his run. His hope and courage has inspired millions to do the same. And every year, there is a marathon fundraising done around the world to honor his dream, and to end cancer.

So....where is the Terry Fox Run done in...other than Canada?

Did he discover Penicilin? No. Did he save Canada from the Americans? No. But he is one of Canada's greatest heros because his vision of hope and love has shaped Canada into what it is.

Where ever there are Cdns, they will be running - and having a Terry Fox run. There are tens of thousands of Cdns living in Beijing and all around the world -

He is one of our heros, I dont know that he changed Canada into what it is - it would be more accurate to say because of what Canada is we have heros like Terry Fox - and the people who honour his memory every year by running for a cure for cancer in his name.

I think there's one here near Zurich, put on by the international school. It's not the same date though (might not be every year).
