I am sorry but i just can't come to terms with the piercing of different body parts...perhaps without the insults and attack on my age?! someone could take the time and explain why you choose to do it? Help me understand and gain a little perspective on the world of piercing. By the way, i have my ears pierced twice in the lower ear lobe. My grandmother took me to get them done when i was 8 years old. I wanted to wear dangly earings....

(The post about wrist piercing... granted, that was just retarded. I love piercings, and know a fair amount about them, and that was dangerous.)
I do it to accent parts of me I like, add a little sparkle, or as sort of a reclaimation of what is "me." It's my temple, why not decorate it? Would you move into a home and leave the walls bare, the living room empty, and the floor without a rug? Well, that's why I get pierced.
You thinking it looks "terrible" is your opinion. I have had people who don't even LIKE piercings compliment me, because I chose my piercings carefully and based on my personal looks and anatomy. It's like any personal decision; do it right, and it can improve you.
But hey, at least you're trying to get over your prejudice, instead of just accepting it as ok and spewing it at people. That's progress.

What is the difference between your ears and the rest of your body? As a pierced person, I don't expect people to understand why I want them (each to their own) but I'd like to be accepted anyway - as a human being, and not to be judged by my own personal appearance.

Dont know why people do it, maybe because they've seen someone they admire do it and bcs they dont have a mind of their own they do the same thing. I cant pierce any part of my body, besides the ear-ring piercing made wen i was still a baby. I cant employ anyone with an obvious piercing and cant date anyone with one. No hard feelings, they are just as nice or not nice as any other person

i love my piercings - i feel like they're an essential part of me, and add more because i feel that otherwise it's something missing, that i'm not copmlete. i'm getting a tattoo later in the year for the same reason - it's just not quite right without it (i've been drawing the same pattern on myself for year)
some people get them for different reasons (fashion being my least favourite!), and there's different aspects to getting them. you have to be fairly responsible with some, as they take time and care to heal properly, and can reject and cause scars. they also (for me at least) give me a massive adrenaline rush, which connects them in my head to good feelings. and i think on the right people, they look beautiful

im with u all the way its one of my pet peeves especially on guys who i think should never never get nething pierced on their bodys it just way wrong!!! and ofcourse some girls find it cute im not saying all girls hate it im just saying i hate it and im not trying to make ne one mad but i think u should really on get ears pierced but thats just my opinion and i think that it would really hurt when u sneezed and ur nosed is pierced or u get pregnant and ur belly button is pierced OUCH!!!

i cannot believe you are here judging people on getting piercing but here you are having more than each ear pierced once. who cares who has piercings. you will never be able to move on in life if you will stay here judging people. get over it and focus on what you do instead of what everyone else does. i have my ears pierced, tongue, and bellybutton and i get nothing but compliments. and if anyone had something bad to say about it i would put them in there place quick because sweetheart noone is the same. that is why we wear different things, dye our hair, get piercings, tatts, etc. you need to grow up quick and welcome to the real world! =]

piercing is one way of accessorizing the body. we are from different cultures so we have different interpretations of piercing.
... i mean == what could be ghastly looking or terrible looking to you is actually beautiful for others. and what could be beautiful to you may look ghastly to others...
we shouldnt also pattern other people's behavior or preferences with ours...

Finally a girl with some sanity and the ability to think for her self! I too think body piercing is nothing short of self mutilation! It has no social or spiritual value! It is nothing more than anti social behavior!

whats the difference between ears and bellies,lip,eyebrow,wrist and nose....
a peircing in the ear is exactly the same as gettin any other piercings done...i have my ears,lip and belly done and i rekon they look awesome...

i agree... facial piercings to me look trashy.... very few people can pull them off... VERY few
i have my tongue pierced, but its nto soemthign you can really see much...
as far as belly, nipples, etc.... i guess those are alright cuz they can be easily covered but yea.. generally i dotn like them and im 24
