How could some one become a doctor if they don't believe in evolution and they believe the earth is only 6000 years old.
How could some one like that pass med exams?

Umm I am christian and premed. I feel science helps us to understand God better. MCAT also does not deal with evoution and its not needed to treat someone. Evolution can be disproved and proved so yeah. I'm not going to state what I believe on here but I can tell you i have good grades and am very knowledgeable of the medical scene. Just because I believe in god doesn't make me an ignorant doctor or a bad one. Studies have even shown prayers through a machine keeping someone alive helps the person heal faster (Scientific American ran this a few years ago.)

Dear Skaggy,

First evolution is still just a theory and is not a proven fact. There is as much evidence for Intelligent Design by a Creator.

i would think that when looking for a doctor the most important thing would be how competent they are and how skilled they are at diagnosing and assessing illness. Compassion and kindness are also great traits- and i find that the best doctors have these traits.

In asking this question- do you go into a clinic and ask the doctor what his religion is before you accept treatment from him- sounds almost a little "discriminatory".

When it comes to a doctor i just care that he/she is competent!!

If you want to talk about evolution that's a whole other question that many have already debated on this site.

Kindly,

Nickster

What does evolution have to do with healing the body? MANY people go to Christian doctors. They evidently are as good, know as much, as any others. PS the next time you need the care of a doctor, ask if he/she is a Christian or not. If they are, refuse treatment. In an emergency, ask (or have another person ask in your behalf) if the emergency room doctor is a Christian. If he/she is. direct the ambulance driver to take you to another hospital. If a person did as above and died on the way to another hospital, at least they might know that they died for a good reason. --Wrong !

There is no correlation between being a Christian and passing a medical exam. Also, believing in evolution is not a prerequisite to understanding medicine, or becoming a doctor. Why would you think it was?

Why not? Not all Christians believe the earth is only six thousand years old, and not all of them disbelieve in evolution. And even if a Christian doctor DID believe that, I don't think it would affect how they practice medicine. What does evolution have to do with medicine? Oh, is it because viruses evolve and adapt? Yeah, that's viruses, not everything else.

So yes, I would go to a Christian doctor. One of the best doctors I've ever known is a Christian.

you mean EVERY SINGLE christian DOES believe earth is 6000 years old ? how do you know that ?
You are a fool and have just proven it by your *question*.
Please wear a bracelet which will say you refuse treament if you need it on emergency basis and the doctor who is going to save your life is a christian. I am betting 1000:1 you have no balls to do that.

Millions of Christians in the USA accept evolution. Almost all Christians in the rest of the world do. I imagine most doctors are in the non-literalist camp

I'm pretty sure my doctor is a christian. I live in the south, and my doctor's about 50 years old, so its a reasonable assumption. However, she's always taken good care of me and seems very knowledgable, so I'm not concerned about what her religious beliefs are.

i don't know whether my doctors are christian or not, but i don't really care. I'm from England, and a lot of English Christians except evolution.
but i know the Doctor who saved ,y life to years ago was christian, she saved me so i don't care about her religion.
