Right, everyone needs to have a full description in slang of a person's butthole, that makes you a fine and honest upstanding citizen *rolls eyes* Stop being prideful and do what is best for everyone. Have your opinions, just dont do it in a way that is hurtful or rude. We all should live by that edict.

From the Islamic perspective, in order to gain salvation, one must:

believe in and worship Allah alone, (not claim that Jesus is His son or that Mary is His Mother, or worship saints, angels or other creations besides Allah)

believe in all the messengers (Prophets) sent by Allah, from Adam to Muhammad,

believe in the books of Allah, those that were revealed before and the final revelation - the Qur'an,

believe in the angels, that they exist and are servants of Allah,

believe in the Last Day (the Day of Ressurection) that it will come without a doubt and everyone will be called to account;

and finally believe in Allah's Divine Pre-determination and Decree.

If anyone neglects any part of these 6 pillars of faith then they are considered a disbeliever.

**Narrated Abu Huraira: One day while Allah's Apostle was sitting with the people, a man came to him walking and said, "O Allah's Apostle. What is Belief?" The Prophet said, "Belief is to believe in Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Apostles, and the meeting with Him, and to believe in the Resurrection." The man asked, "O Allah's Apostle What is Islam?" The Prophet replied, "Islam is to worship Allah and not worship anything besides Him, to offer prayers perfectly, to pay the (compulsory) charity i.e. Zakat and to fast the month of Ramadan." The man again asked, "O Allah's Apostle What is Ihsan (i.e. perfection or Benevolence)?" The Prophet said, "Ihsan is to worship Allah as if you see Him, and if you do not achieve this state of devotion, then (take it for granted that) Allah sees you." The man further asked, "O Allah's Apostle When will the Hour be established?" The Prophet replied, "The one who is asked about it does not know more than the questioner does, but I will describe to you its portents. When the lady slave gives birth to her mistress, that will be of its portents; when the bare-footed naked people become the chiefs of the people, that will be of its portents. The Hour is one of five things which nobody knows except Allah. Verily, the knowledge of the Hour is with Allah (alone). He sends down the rain, and knows that which is in the wombs." (31.34) Then the man left. The Prophet said, "Call him back to me." They went to call him back but could not see him. The Prophet said, "That was Gabriel who came to teach the people their religion." The Quran tells us Christians will not be forgiven, unbelievers will burn forever.

Those who ascribe a partner to Allah (like Christians do with Jesus and the Holy Spirit) will not be forgiven. They have "invented a tremendous sin." 4:48, 4:116

"Is one who followeth the pleasure of Allah as one who hath earned condemnation from Allah, whose habitation is the Fire?"
Unbelievers will burn forever in the Fire. 3:162

Those who oppose the messenger and become unbelievers will go to hell. 4:115

For Muslim salvation is ...

1. Believe in Allah 2. and the Day of Judgment 3. and the existence of Angels. 4. All heavenly Scriptures. 5. All the prophets 6. and life after death 7. and the destiny, that all that happens is from Allah.

For those who didn't receive message of Islam. Salvation is 1. believe in God, 2. last Day and 3. doing good deeds.....

"Surely those who believe, and those who are Jews, and the
Christians, and the Sabians, WHOEVER BELIEVES IN GOD AND THE LAST DAY AND DOES GOOD, they shall have their reward from their Lord, and there is no fear for them, nor shall they grieve."{Holy Quran 2:62}

"Say: O People of the Book! Come to an agreement between us and you: that WE SHALL WORSHIP NONE BUT GOD, AND THAT WE SHALL ASCRIBE NO PARTNER UNTO HIM, AND THAT NONE OF US SHALL TAKE OTHERS FOR LORDS BESIDE GOD. And if they turn away, then say: Bear witness that we are they who have surrendered (unto Him)." {Holy Quran 3:64}

"And there are, certainly, among the People of the Book (Jews and Christians), those who believe in GOD, and that which has been revealed to you and in that which has been revealed to them, humbling themselves before GOD: They will not sell the Revelations of GOD for a miserable gain! For them is a reward with their Lord, and GOD is swift in account." {Holy Quran 3:199}

"Surely those who believe and those who are Jews and the Sabians and the Christians WHOEVER BELIEVES in GOD AND THE LAST DAY AND DOES GOOD-- they shall have no fear nor shall they grieve."{Holy Quran 5:69}

Who goes to hell?

Polytheist and people who deny the prophets or Allah.

I agree with Faisal F, but I want to add another Category; People who have not received the message of ANY Religion. Those people are judged by God according to the Human Instinct, and knowledge of Good and Bad. The ''Good'' amongst them will also go to heaven.

Now I will quote for you some of the most important verses of the Quran [translation] regarding the issue of Salvation :

[29:2-3] "Do the people think that they will be left to say, "We believe," without being put to the test?" We have tested those before them, for GOD must distinguish those who are truthful, and He must expose the liars.

[47:31] We will certainly put you to the test, in order to distinguish those among you who strive, and steadfastly persevere. We must expose your true qualities.

[2:214] Do you expect to enter Paradise without being tested like those before you? They were tested with hardship and adversity, and were shaken up, until the messenger and those who believed with him said, "Where is GOD's victory?" GOD's victory is near.

[9:51] Say, "Nothing happens to us, except what GOD has decreed for us. He is our Lord and Master. In GOD the believers shall trust."

[2:156] "When an affliction befalls them, they say, "We belong to God, and to Him we are returning."

[103:1-3] By the afternoon.
The human being is utterly lost.
Except those who believe and lead a righteous life, and exhort one another to uphold the truth, and exhort one another to be steadfast.

They believe that the souls of Jews and Christians will go to hell, and will exchange their places with even the most sinful of Muslims. Pretty messed up, but no more messed up than Christians believing all non-Christians will go to Hell.

Muslim reported from Abu Burdah from Abu Musaa that the Prophet (saw) said: "Some people amongst the Muslims will come on the Day of Resurrection with sins as great as a mountain. Allaah will forgive them, and will pass [the burden of sin] to the Jews and Christians". According to another version of this hadith, the Prophet (saw) said, "When the Day of Judgement comes, Allaah (swt) will allocate a Jew or Christian for every Muslim and will say, "This is your ransom from the Fire". This hadith reflects the words of Allaah (swt): "Such is the Paradise which We shall give as an inheritance to those of Our slaves who have been al-Muttaqoon" [19:63] and "This is the Paradise which you have been made to inherit because of your deeds which you used to do [in the life of this world]" [43:72] [Tafseer Ibn Katheer, 5/10]

Imaginary gods cannot save souls

Act 4:10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, [even] by him doth this man stand here before you whole.

Act 4:11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.

Act 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

If any Muslim deny Allah and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) there is no salvation for such a person.

14:4. And We sent not a Messenger except with the language of his people, in order that he might make (the Message) clear for them. Then Allâh misleads whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.

Does Allah mislead?

4:157 . That they said (in boast), "We killed Christ Jesus the son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah.;- but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no (certain) knowledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of a surety they killed him not:-

This verse says they were made to believe a lie.

Does Allah deliberately mislead people then punish them for not following?

No Muslim can be sure of his salvation until the day fo judgement. Unfortunately those who die fighting for Allah are assured their salvation this is the reason that many will die and take many with them (Terrorist) because it is the only way to be sure of their salvation.

This is the testimony of a former PLO terrorist turned Christian.
