If there is a god or goddess out there, surely such an entity wouldn't hold a grudge against some one simply for not believing in them. Especially with so many choices out there.

Why would a divine power be so petty. Belief in and of itself doesn't provide any benefit in this life, so why should it matter in the next?

I'm more than happy to take my chances that all gods and goddesses are fake. But if that isn't the case, I'm hoping that the gods or whatnot won't hold it against me that I didn't believe. He/she/they certainly didn't provide any proof.

What's wrong with a little healthy skepticism?

That's why you don't let JW into your house. Made that mistake once....ugh.

They are very well trained, intelligent and have heard almost every argument you can imagine. Plus they are more than willing to bash the rest of christianity.

Everyone excuses religion by saying that they have the "true" faith and everyone else is wrong. It's called the true scotsman fallacy.

You seemed like your life was going just fine there, maybe a bit too materialistic but hey, who am I to judge...

The drama of life and death comes from the existence of discovery and mystery. The existence of discovery and mystery makes possible the construction of models of self and world that include; spirit and no soul; no spirit and no soul; no spirit and soul; and spirit and soul. The existence of discovery and mystery makes Gnostic Theism, Agnostic Atheism, Gnostic Atheism, and Agnostic Theism valid possibilities for souls to choose from when building a model of self and world to order self toward existence and explain existence to self. A diversity, variety and number of ways of making up our minds only limited by our creative abilities and powers of imagination makes the global culture a far more entertaining place then would exist if everyone made up their minds about self and world in exactly the same way.

You can believe anything you want. And a healthy scepticism is not bad at all especially when observing the way other people believe...since that is just what belief is..It is the general and personal thought that an unknown is true....many religious beliefs are so much a part of the social structure of a culture that is is difficult to question or change a belief in god(s). Since this is the case in our country or in many countries there is always great criticism of any question of that belief system...Great religions have been founded by questioning the ingrained systems and beliefs...Buddha was an unhappy Prince searching for answers to human suffering...Jesus was unhappy as a Jew in an unjust land under a totalitarian government (Rome)... He saw the corruption in the temples and raised questions about usery...Mohammed collected his Bedouin tribes of the deserts to become a great leader and created the laws for today's millions of Muslims...He was one of the great mideastern prophets along with Moses, Jacob, Elijah. Jeddadiah Smith led his Morman congregations into the west on the guidence of his god. These men were Elders first and left followers who continued the works of religious example...Of course all of these religious movements had one thing in common at one time or another. That was their exclusivity and unpopularity with the governments that be...Roman, Jewish, Secular or not...but the collection of followers was the one thing every religion has in common...Each one answers that very human need to really know if there is more...and how did we begin(gain consciousness of ourselves) It can be a pretty lonely search to find out just what is our meaning in the grand scheme of things. Also the acceptance of a religious belief is a good way to control the rabble(just an aside that explains forms of social control)

Your statement is a mixture of some valid points and some conjecture. One of your valid points are: God doesn't hold a "grudge" - He loves you UNconditionally ! Belief in a God doesn't have it's benefits now, is very debatable. The life to come ? Well; at that time, Jesus will be here to help all people along and provide a very nurturing environment for us all. Taking your chances concerning the validity of God is quite alright too. If God wants you to become a Christian, He surely can reveal Himself to you- can't He ? (After all; He created the universe.) As far as evidence of His existence. This can be found in Physics i.e. U 232 (Uranium) - its decay {half-life} and its break-down into Pb (Lead) in a certain time-span. Also; there is the Cambrian phyla [division] of the Fossil Record re: what Paleontologists refer to as the "The Big Bang Explosion" in reference to the sudden appearance of animal vertebrae and the human correlation. These are very significant pieces of evidence for a Devine Creator. The evidence is there IF you know where to look !!! "Healthy Skepticism" needs fact to remain "healthy".

God might want your faith, belief, respect, because He is the creator of all things, life included. God, via His Son, Jesus has freely offered us forgiveness of sin and eternal life in majestic Heaven. One must believe in God, the Christian and only actual God, to receive this forgiveness and salvation. A person can't receive what they don't accept or believe. Other so called gods offer no eternal life through themselves and by their own provision and doing. Yes, there are a lot of choices out there. It's up to you to make the right one. A person can say that 2+2 equals an endless amount of numbers, but 4 is the only right answer. Faith, God, gods, is sort of in the same way. We must choose the right god/God, just like we must choose the right answer to what 2+2 is. There is only one right answer. There is only one right God. God doesn't hold a grudge. It's more like He has a desire. He desires that we believe in Him but doesn't force us to believe in Him. For one reason He desires our faith & belief is because He knows what the conquence is of not believing & not having faith in Him. He desires and wants what's best for us.

You should be fine as long as you try to live a good life and don't stop others from believing in their Gods/God. The only people that have to worry are the people that want to completely kill off all religion. They are the Antichrist and will have to answer for their sins when they die.

I say believe what you wish and let others do the same.

Skepticism is necessary to gain any hope for health and balance. One should always remain inquisitive. And that doesn't exclude god as a source of doubt.

The Christian response, however, is that by not accepting Jesus as your savior, you are keeping yourself from gaining access to heaven. So you'd be sending yourself to hell.

Of course, this is merely dogmatic propaganda to keep people in check, and get more easily frightened people enlisted in the religion.
