He has done this before and we thought it had something to do with what he ate before he went to sleep. Tonight he didn't eat anything but still vomited. I have noticed that it is always red, but not blood just red. He drank a cherry soda about 7:00 pm.

My son used to do this when he drank Sunny D juice. It took me awhile to realize that that was the cause. He doesn't get that juice anymore but now what I do is mix his juice with water, half juice - half water all the time and he's fine. I find that pure juice on it's own is too strong for him. Not sure if this is the solution to your problem, but you may want to give it a try.

Get him checked for Acid Reflux. My son AND my daughter has this. It can also lead to sleep apnea as it did my daughter. She had to be on a apnea monitor up till she was a year old. Alot of things can flare up acid reflux. Certain foods, drinks, vigorous playing. Sodas are the worst thing to give a child that has Acid Reflux. Just make a doc appt with his ped and have him evaluated for acid reflux. Best of luck!

It could be acid reflux, kids do get that. Or you might try keeping a record of what he eats at night every night and see if there is one food or drink that he has every night he vomits. It could be a food allergy reaction. Or ask a doctor. Good luck

Too much junk - my daughter does that sometimes and she is 14. She has a sensitive stomach so if she eats too much junk or some junk food but eats nothing good to balance it - she will feel sick at night and vomit. The first thing I asked her is ...what did you eat today?
