Why not? What did it to you? If God is not real tell me how or what you did to prove it.

i do not believe in the christian god. i only believe in the creator of all who is the father of Jesus and who also is my father.the God of love.that is why i am not a christian anymore, because their god hates me because i dont want to know him or his followers. That god wants people to pray to him all day long, like the muslim god.my God wants me to have a relationship with him,and to follow in my brother Jesus footsteps to inherit the kingdom of heaven, where everyone loves everyone else

I heard about the god concept when I was seven and I was amazed the adults that I knew (not my parents) believed in a pretend person in the sky.
Over the next 54 years I tried my best to find this elusive sky critter but it just never showed up – he is not a gentleman – he never introduced himself.
I've been very lucky all my life, in both war and peace.
This is illogical - my life should suck.
I've seen some terrible things that happened to devout believers and seen some fantastic stuff happen to ärseholes like me.
Now, if there was a god none of that woulda happened - I'd be dead a hundred times over – there would be order in the world and its reality but there’s not – it’s chaos out there.

No my friend, there is no invisible sky guy and there aren't any monsters under the bed at night.
These were myths constructed to keep the people under control and provide a nice easy living for the scammers working the greatest sting of all time.

Because I have no reason to. Why don't you believe in any other gods? Tell me how or what you did to prove that they didn't exist.

I never claimed to have proved that god doesn't exist. I just don't believe that god exists. Unlike so many of the theists I see on Y!A, I don't presume that I KNOW whether god exists or not.

And who's being a jerk? Just because we don't agree with you doesn't mean we're jerks.

No one can prove whether or not God exists. Proof is not the issue because there's no proof either way.

When people don't believe in God it is usualy because the notion of God and all the religious claims surrounding God sound as silly and made-up as something from a fantasy novel.
Plus, when applying serious thought to it, most of the claims of any religion are full of holes and things that don't add up.

There is insufficient empirical evidence to support the hypothesis of a god or gods. The fact of the matter is; god does not exist.

One cannot prove that an object under discussion (god) does not exist. Rather, in the absence of empirical data to the contrary, the object is assumed not to exist until such time as it can be empirically demonstrated that the object does exist.

The burden of proof rests upon the party proclaiming that the object under discussion does exist.

Yes, I believe there is a Creator and it seems like the Creator is having a helluva time playing with His creations and feeling good about it....laughing gleefully at those he created like say in His image or something else or whatever life that have the ability to think, reason and feel. We cannot arque with Him, see ? He is the Creator and He wouldn't allow us to have His kind of knowledge 'coz if He does let us be like Him then He wouldn't be God anymore, see ? Very smart, see ?

So what do we do ? Play smart don't arque with the Boss Man. Maybe then The Boss Man will compensate something good for those who were smart enough to understand this simple concept.

I don't believe in a lot of gods, because I believe in one god, the God of Love as evidenced by Jesus Christ. People who believe in no gods at all need to understand the principle that, like a math problem, there are many more wrong answers than right answers.

And the only Christian that ever got it really right was Christ himself. So don't expect perfection from anybody else either in their example or teaching.

Oh, I can't prove it. You can't prove a negative. I just think God is such extremely unlikely possibility that there's no point in believing.

I see no evidence. I've never seen anything where I've said to myself "wow, there's NO POSSIBLE EXPLANATION other than an omnipotent, omniscent supernatural being."

What "did it to me" was years of philosophical musing, first within and then outside the context of religion. It took about three years to move from Christian to agnostic, then another year or so (and two lovely podcasts) to admit I was an athiest.

"What did it to you?" How condescending.

I don't believe in god because 1) I was a christian for the first twelve years of my life and had a lack of personal experience with the god that I was supposed to be worshipping. I also found the bible to be self-contradictory and unbelievable; and 2) The lack of concrete evidence backs up my personal conclusions.

Its not so much that I've proven god doesn't exist, its that I've not come across anything to prove that he does.

I don't see any answers here, that warrants people being called a "jerk". You asked "why", and everyone is giving you their best explanations. There is barely even a hint of sarcasm, just rhetoric...

You have issues!

I didn't prove god was not real.

I just don't believe your stories that he is real.
