we would have to stay in iraq for decades in my opinion.

if we start withdrawing and withdrawing in near future, all the violence and killings will go back up again.

do you agree or disagree?

I say a huge mess because of all the suicide attacks, secretarian violence, death squads, militias and al qaeda freely roaming inside iraq.......how can all that be stopped?

1 - Mess - yes.
2 - 2x or 3x troops - no, but it sure would get done a whole lot sooner if we didn't have a midget military.
3 - Decades - not by a long shot; in a civil conflict like the one in Iraq the populace traditionally gets tired of the strife after five years or so and begins providing serious assistance to the folks that are trying to restore order.
4 - Withdraw in near future = violence and killings on the rise - yes.

The huge mess is because of the actions of the USA in destroying the power supply system, the water supply, the telecommunications and the civil administration.
This is what Rumsfeld meant when he boasted of "shock and awe".
To disband a conquered army and send them home with their weapons was just crazy and now US soldiers are reaping the outcome of the stupid policies.
Whether the US stays or goes there will still be many more innocent deaths.

"The Decider" was told before all this started -- by the people who know this stuff -- that this is the way that it would be !!
They told him -- if he "took out" the standing regime -- the country would shatter into a million "factions" and would be impossible to put back together (humpty-dumpty syndrome) !!
But, that didn't matter to Junior -- he had "word from God" (I think this was Cheney on a pillow speaker) !!

There IS NO WIN POINT IN IRAQ !! No definable target to subdue --- no definable enemy leadership to take down --- no objective to conquer --- and no end game scenario to be obtained (with the exception of this undefinable 'self determination' thing that everyone keeps elluding to that is about as probable as the Sun setting in the East ) !!

SO --- you cut the losses brought on by exceptionally poor leadership --- get the hell out -- and let the poor rag tops slaughter one another until they swim in their OWN blood -- and pray to God people never ever again believe a lunatic when he says that we HAVE to fight somewhere for ANY reason that can't be proven in spades before the full citizenry and through full disclosure !!

The US Military should be defending OUR borders --- not "nation building" for people who HATE our eternal guts !!!

Pull out and let them kill each other. The sunnies and Shiites will fight each other, and since the Shiites have larger numbers, they'd most likely come out on top, and take control of the country. The US just needs to make sure no other country interferes and try to take over the country, like Iran. We did the bulk of the work by taking out sadam, now this is their battle, why not just let them fight it.
