I come for a strongly patriotic family and I want to enlist in the military. I have decided to go into either the Airforce or the Navy. I have family in all branches of the Military. They have informed me not to believe any thing my recruiter says. So how do I make sure I get a god job? Also how do you go about trying to get one of those bonus I keep hearing about?

If you want a bonus, join the Army.

The Air Force and Navy hardly ever offer enlistment bonus's.

There is no way to enlist in the Air Force and guarantee you will get the job you want.

The Navy might be alittle more accomodating.

Air Force recruiters have no say so, in getting you a specific job, AF jobs are assigned at MEPS or in Basic Training.

Certain jobs and certain branches are offering various bonuses...it is not an acroos the board, every recruit is getting one sort of thing. From what I can tell, the Army is offering the highest bonuses to the most recruits. Big bonuses are going to intel career fields, people who speak Farsi or other languages from the Middle East in conjunction with English and to some of the tech fields. Of course, you have to qualify for those careers via ASVAB scores and prelimenary security checks.

I would let the recruiters know that you are speaking with reps from all four branches, that you have a strong family military tie and that you are also getting a lot of input from folks who currently and previously have served. That will go a long way in making the recruiters take notice. And, if one branch's recruiter is dismissive or seems to be trying to give you incorrect information, simply contact another recruiter for that branch. There are good recruiters, bad and middle of the road...find the best for what you need.

You have to listen to your recruiter to a certain extent. Like he has to tell you what jobs you can have, when you can go in, how long you enlist for, what the bonuses are.
Recruiters get a bad reputation because they like to tell people that basic isn't that bad, that they will get to go to whatever exotic place they choose, things like that.

You go to the recruiter and tell him what you want to do. He will give you some options. Take your time and think about what he says. Take some paperwork home and go over it with someone who is in the branch you want to go into.
Go back to your recruiter and tell him what YOU want. Then when he tells you what he will give you, take your time and think about it again.

If you don't like what he is telling you, go to another recruiter from the same branch (in a different town) and see what he has to say. Don't tell him about the first guy, just see how much alike or different their promises are.

Do not sign up until you have what you want. Recruiters will try to make you sign up for what that branch of the military needs at that time. Make sure you get the job you want, or as close as you can get. Remember, for some jobs you have to have college or you have to get a certain score on your test.

If a bonus is important to you, that may change the jobs you can get, also. Tell the recruiter that you are interested in a bonus, if you don't ask, he will not volunteer the information.

what do you want to do when you get out? think hard about it and use the military to learn that trade. that's how you get a good job. if they say there isn't a seat available for training for that job. tell them you will wait on the dep (delayed entry program) until that seat opens up. as for the bonus, don't take no for an answer. and it depends on how high the need for people in that job is. the more people needed for that job the higher the bonus. hope this helps.

You can ask your recruiter what fields are offering a bonus and then ask him if you field of interest is offering bonuses. Just make sure you get it on paper and you will be fine. the majority of recruiters are stand up guys but like anything just make sure you get on paper what you agreed on..

your pretty much guaranteed a cushy job in the airforce, and you don't have to worry about being stuck on a ship with a bunch of dudes for months at a time

Make sure they all know that you are considering all the others. The bonus offers will come rolling in.

yeah, they're mostly right about the recruiter, not so much lying to you but stretching the truth.
the recruiter will tell you just about anything to get you to sign the contract, which means he gets recruiting points toward his/her next promotion.
as for the bonuses... i was told to specifically ask about them.
if you don't ask, they won't tell you.
