I think the idea of Original Sin is a distorted translation of the original message. As I understand the original translation for Eve is life and the original translation of Adam is closer to Mankind - therefore the meaning is more Life tempted Mankind to seek Knowledge - and I am sure there was much rejoicing - father must have been so proud, don't you think? I mean what father isn't proud when their children endeavor to learn, right?
Peace!

Then don't pay for their crap. You know right from wrong. You know what is legal and what isn't legal. You know the commandments (or at least most of them.) So, that being said, don't break any laws, don't break any of the commandments--i.e....Never break the speed limit, don't use foul language, respect your parents & elders, don't lie, don't kill, don't steal, don't commit adultry. (any sex outside of marriage or before marriage, is considered adultry.) go to church, pray, help the oppressed, tell others about God, don't degrade anyone. respect your goverment. In other words...don't do anything wrong. You have the chance to do things right. You decide what to do and not do. You know the rules. Now keep them---ALL of them. Can't do it? No. No one can. So, if we inherit original sin or not, we'd still screw things on our own accord. Unless you can go all through life without evcer sinning, without ever doing anything wrong, even once, I guess it really doesn't matter that much. We all make mistakes, we do things that are wrong, we sin. We screw things up just like Adam and Eve did, maybe worse. (paul h is right...see above)

The doctrine of original sin was required to validate the doctrine of universal redemption. Theologians needed to figure out exactly what Jesus was and what the sacrifice of Christ meant. The winning theory was that Jesus, as both God and human, became the ultimate sacrifice on behalf of all the sins of humanity. But some people were clearly more sinful than others, and some were actually quite virtuous. So it was necessary to level to playing field rather than try to suggest that Christ died for most. Being human means that you're going to stumble occasionally, so they decided to institutionalize the issue by declaring that the first sin brought about a culture of sin that could not be overcome except by the supreme sacrifice of the god-man.
There are other models, notable the one that states that Christ is the model of integrity, humility and self-sacrifice, something for us to emulate and to discover inside each of us. But in their wisdom, and in consultation with the Holy Spirit, they went with O.S. and the Atonement model.

We dont pay for their sins..We pay for our own sins.. Adam and Eve were some of the most noblest of Gods Children thats why they were chosen to parent the earth.. Adam sits in Glory next to Heavenly Father along side him is Eve.. How are you paying for something someone did 6007 years ago..No offense meant.. But im sure you and I sin 100x more then they ever did.. and btw just so you knew if Eve hadn't of ate the fruit then she would of never been cursed to bear children..In other words they would still be walking around the Garden of Eden naked to this day and um We wouldnt even exist.. the curse was " In Pain ye shall bear Children." We dont pay for their sins we answer for our own which if we repent Christ takes our sins upon us..IN other Words.. Christ got nailed to a cross and went to hell..which suffering was so great it caused him to bleed from every pore like sweat..So We wouldnt have to. I dont mean to be offensive but i think you are a little turned around bro.. Dont look down look up.. Or has grandaddy used to say " life is full of crap sometimes you step in front of it, sometimes you step over it, but sometimes your going to step in it.. The point is keep stepping..Dont stand in Crap.

When God created earth and the first man woman he didn't intend for it to be what it is now. This was supposed to be the paradise for us to live and love. What happened was a spiritual thing; the angel that decided he wanted to be like God and was cast out of heaven and down to earth. God knew he was down here prowling around jealous of God's creation and that is why God told them not to eat of the tree of life because that would open their eyes to evil and they would be sinful. They chose not to obey because the fruit looked tempting and delicious so they disobeyed and fell into sin. It's God's plan not ours he gave us a way out with the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross. It doesn't matter what "crap" Adam & Eve did...what matters is we have a way out with Jesus Christ. All mankind now fights this spiritual battle. Some of that battle is Satan deceiving and making people think there is no God at all and to indulge in themselves. There is day God has for Satan to go to hell for what he's done; Satan wants as many to go with him as he can therefore a spiritual battle; he doesn't want to rot there alone. God wants us to choose him. Its just God's plan we can't comprehend it.

I agree that the whole adam & eve original sin fable, is just an old myth and complete BS. But I don't have the same charge on it that you appear to have. Why be pissed off about a silly myth.
Just jettison religion and get on with your life.

We are genetic copies of copies of copies of copies, etc of Adam and Eve and are no longer perfect but sinful....no way to get around the fall into sin which is why God sent Jesus to atone for our sins. God demands holy perfection and this is the only way to get into heaven after death....to believe in Him, follow his teachings and be saved for all eternity. God sets the rules...he created us...like it or not. We may not understand his plan or methods but he knows what's best....He loves every one of us and is not willing that any should perish but live forever with him in heaven. We simply have to believe in Jesus as our Savior....we cannot obtain heaven by any good works but by the saving grace of Jesus.

Because a loooooong time ago people who sought to control the masses decided to declare it so. There are forces out there who feed on guilt, fear and chaos and that was a great way to make us feel guilty from the get go! THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS ORIGINAL SIN IT WAS A MANMADE CONCEPT!!!
