But every time I try to pour my heart out to my mom, she thinks it's a load of bullshit. I'm not doing well at school and I feel so stupid all the time. I think I'm going to break.

My parents don't pay much attention to me cuz they are already on the edge with my older sister who pulls her stuff every week. I just don't want to send them overboard with my problems.

And I don't want to be the "disfunctional" one in my family. Like, "Oh, your brother's so smart, and your sister is so social, and you... well, you're unstable." I don't want to be the one in my family that has to take medicine so I can act normal.

Find someone who will pay attention to you and then talk to him/her. It could be a friend, a counselor at school, someone on a help line. Just spill out everything - that could help. Talk to this person as often as necessary for a couple of weeks and then see how you feel.

Good luck!

I think it would be helpful to seek counseling with those symptoms. I have a family member who's on medicine for depression and I don't look down at this person for it. It's not something to be embarssased about but I know that's easier said than done. It's only going to help you out and I know what a huge change it made in the life of my family member. It took a while to find the right one but when they did it was like day and night. You have to do what's best for you and counseling would be a great way to start. Just be honest with yourself and stay strong.

Yea i know how it feels to be depressed ... Try to not worry so much.... all your little problems that are in your head.. really dont mean that much in the big picture.... Just remember that you can choose to feel HAPPY or SAD at any time.... If you keep thinking negative bad things .. u will feel bad all the time.. If you think good things that you will feel good.. Its funny that it works that way but its true... like u said...... i feel stupid.. and i have problems,,,, and im disfunctional and unstable... well u dont have to be..... study more and you will be smart... U have it in you to be a smarter person then your sister and brother.. u just need to push youself to get there..... Choose to be yourself and be happy... is more fun then the depressed and unhappy

How long have you been feeling this way?

If you've had the symptoms of SAD or depression for quite a while (1 month or over), try asking a doctor or your counselor if you REALLY have the disorders. Most of the time, they are false alarms and will usually pass in a matter of a few weeks.
Anyways, it's always helpful to talk to someone to keep your mind off depressing thoughts, getting sunlight, eating healthy, exercising (higher self esteem) and hopefully, the symptoms will fade.

So be unstable and don't worry about your mom. Pour your heart out when she thinks she's ready; maybe she'll come to you. Once you stop worrying about how much you're able to express yourself at home, you'll be able to exceed.
And don't worry about being like your siblings. Just be you; it's easier that way. If they ask you about something, tell them honestly whether it'll shock them or not.
Otherwise, just do things like you want to and please, for your sake, don't medicate yourself with drugs or alcohol.
It's ok to be you.

I understand. me, myself go through this often.. just try to tell your parents you feel you not getting enough attention.. have them sit down take a deep breath and open up.. sometimes it is the best thing to do.. don't hold things in the hurts more on the inside. let it all out tell them how you feel.
Well i hope this helps you...

sounds like your lonely and don't feel as though you fit in your family , you should talk to your parents , because if your not depressed , you soon will be heading that way , make sure if you are depressed get help , i lost a friend because he didn't get help , he took his life , so please make sure your ok , you shouldn't have to guess if you are or not , maybe just talk to your doctor on how your feeling , tell him or her you don't want pills but would like some one to talk to , that also helps , hope i helped somehow

See depression, at http://www.ezy-build.net. (.net.nz/~shaneris) on page 2, and take the test. Also see page 13, study tips, and visit your school counselor.
