eating constantly has been defined as 6 small meals a day. This is a better way about eating healthy then the 2 times a day. 2 meals a day alone will cause you to gain weight as your body will tend to "save" calories because it thinks its in a starvation mode from infrequent meals..

grazing is actually optimum for health but it not a viable option for most in this fast paced society of today.

there are many reasons why 2 large meals is not optimum for health or weight management. the main reasons are that the body has no storage capacity for most nutrients except for excess sugar and fats, the rest is excreted. by only eating 2 meals a day the body only has 2 chances to get all the nutrition that it needs for the day and that's not going to happen. you have to remember than nutrients are not only proteins, carbohydrates and fats but also vitamins and minerals. now in terms of energy 2 meals will not keep blood sugar levels stable so there will be long periods of low blood sugar in between meals. this causes many negative problems with the health in general, long and short term.

if you eat constantly throughout the day with an amount of food weight less than the total food weight of the two big meals then that would not make you fatter faster

remember: most food weight = direct proportional with fat

What makes you gain weight is taking in more calories in a day than you burn. If you require 2500 calories a day and you take in 3000 you will have taken in an extra 500 calories and for every extra 3500 calories you take in you will gain 1lb. 500 cal X 7 days = 3500 cal (1lb)

So to answer your question it is excessive calories that will make you fatter, whether it is 2 meals or 5 meals what's important is that you do not exceed your required calorie intake for a day.
