The chances they won't have any infantry slots are somewhere close to zero. Even so, if that were to happen, you need only walk out. Either that, or pick another MOS.

There is virtually NO chance there won't be infantry slots available. If you can sign up for a specialized MOS within infantry, I'd watch that they didn't just put you in as regular infantry... that your MOS is stated clearly and correctly. If your recruiter is doing his job, all the paperwork will be completed before you get to MEPS and there won't be any questions about this.. although I've heard stories of the folks at MEPS switching things up. Just make sure you read the MEPS version of the paperwork you sign VERY carefully... don't let them pressure you into just signing it... That's the official paper... so make sure it's right!

Unless you are not physically and mentally prepared for any assignment to a combat arm, the chances of not obtaining an MOS in Infantry would be extremely slim.
You may consider some long-range goals in learning a trade in the Army that you can carry into the civilian sector. Even typing is advantageous, learned in communications and clerical MOSs.
When you leave the service, and if you were a former infantryman, what might you offer a potential employer as to your capabilities? Certainly not shooting weaponry.

i think they would ask you to pick another MOS. i hope there are slots open for infantry because thats what i want to do. im actually going to meps in a few days. my recruiter told me that there is a good chance that they would have it. if they dont give you what you want though im sure you could just try again next month.

I could never imagine that Infantry would a tough MOS to get. The chances of that being filled is like the chances of me getting a date with Marilyn Monroe, and she is dead. If by chance you can't get the job you want, then don't sign. Tell them to contact you when that position is available. Don't settle for second best.

Don't worry, they won't run out of infantry slots. If for some reason hell does freezes over and they do, they'll pressure you into picking another mos, but just say no thanks and you'll come back when they do have slots availible.

dont sign wait a few months and go back. There arent many places who dont need/want infantry. If you go ahead and sign you will be doing that job no matter what so make sure you happy with your choice.
