There is nothing wrong with having a couple of drinks three or four times a week, as long as you stick to having no more than 4 drinks if you're a woman or no more than 6 drinks if you're a man. Your liver will process that alcohol fine. However, if you drink more than these amounts in one sitting it is called binge-drinking. Doing this regularly will make your liver not very happy and can lead to alcoholism.
If you stick to the limits for your gender and don't get blotto on a regular basis, then you shouldn't have too much to worry about. Also, if you feel like you can still have a good time without a drink and are happy to be designated driver on occasions, that is also a good indicator.
If you have any doubts, a visit to your doctor may help you. Doctors know better than anyone else how to gage if you have an alcohol problem or not and a quick physical will tell them if you are doing any damage to your body.
At the end of the day, you only get one liver so, enjoy your drink but don't overdo it. If you overload your liver too much, it will do less and less for you, meaning you'll eventually have to give up the enjoyment of your preferred liquor altogether. So, enjoy your drink for the drink's sake, don't drink with the purpose to get drunk, and have a couple of alcohol-free days a week and you can keep enjoying a drink and at the same time, look after your health.

I'd say no. But your at the first stages of being an alcoholic. That's how they all start.
The quantity of alcohol you drink plays a big part too. But still it all can lead to alcoholism. There's no REAL way to tell if someone is an alcoholic based on "getting a buzz" 3 times a week. Becoming an alcoholic creeps up on you, and then you're in denial. Most alcoholics DO NOT admit they are alcoholics until they have done a lot of damage to their own lives or the lives of others.

I have to say... no
Three Times a week just a few drinks for a relaxed buzz, nothing to worry about. If you keep considering yourself to be an alcholic, stop for a week or two, to see if you really need it. If its just to relax and have a few, its nothing at all, if you find out you need it constently you might want to consider cutting it to 2 times and a week and then 1 and then once every other until you stop all together. Realize its just a few drinks and nothing you need, and if you can stop, its not alcholicism... its just a few drinks
enjoy

I have an ex bf who's an alcoholic. He would drink 5/6 beers a day, while working from home and then drink more at night, with friends, out bowling. If you feel the need to get buzzed about 3 nights a week... I would say you have an alcohol abuse problem... bordering on alcoholic. Don't go down this path. It just gets uglier and uglier. People you love will leave you... Don't take this road.

An alcoholic is simply someone who cannot control how much they drink. If you say you want to have one or two drinks and end up getting drunk..you are probably an alcoholic. Keep in mind that like any other drug, Alcohol is addictive over time. The longer and the more you drink, the more likely you are to become dependent on it.
Good luck. If you feel you have a problem. Try Alcoholics Anonymous...It is Free and Anonymous.

i would say you are probably playing with fire and are going to depend on that buzzed feeling to get you through the week which will be a problem that will only get worse unless you recognize the path you are on now and cut back. also think about why you feel that you need to get buzzed to relax so much and see if you can find some other activity to unwind after work.

There's a difference between 'want' and 'need.'
If you want to feel buzzed, then maybe, just maybe, you could become alcoholic.
If you need that buzz to keep going and can't live without it, you're already over the line.

You're the only one who can truthfully answer that question. If you need to ask, it seems you're considering the possibility. Try NOT drinking for a couple months and see how it goes. If you can't make it you may want to look into getting some help.

You will cross the alcoholic line when your habits start interfering with your work and relationships. If you choose to drink over doing these things, or can't do them without drinking - then you have a problem.
