Read the articles below. I have just started with Vista and find it aggravatingly slow - and I don't use wallpaper or screensavers to maximize free memory. Hopefully, over time I will learn to like it better.

Vista – more than you want to know

I've said it before, I'll say it again. If you're running a system that is already marginal, don't bother moving to Vista, even if it is possible. You'll absolutely hate it within minutes of completing the installation. The idea that Vista will run on 512MB of RAM is a joke. It will crawl and gasp for life on 512MB, but what it won't do is perform in a manner that 95% of users will find acceptable. Dump Vista on a machine with a marginal processor, graphics card, and memory and you'll say "WOW" alright, but it won't be a good WOW - I assure you of that.

I have had great success with Vista. But I suggest if you plan on upgrading don' t. XP works fine and are more compatible with all your peripherals.

But if you are a computer geek and want a challenge, go for it, but expect to spend a few days on the Internet upgrading your software. Also, expect to spend some money on new peripherals. The old ones you have are not upgradable.

you really need some juice to run vista; too much graphics. I still stick with XP. Seems like I would need $4000 computer to run Vista smoothly.
