I dont get it. I have never drank a lot of coffee and dont get what the feeling of not being able to function without that 1st cup of coffee every morning. He never drank coffee when we 1st met 6 yrs ago and now all the sudden, he has to drink coffee immediatly and without waiting when he gets up.
Whats with people who do this?

As one who used to not drink coffee, but now MUST HAVE my cup in the morning, I can tell you that, for me, it came when I first realized how "unawake" I was in the morning before coffee, never realizing how "un-fully awake" I was. Once I began drinking coffee, and realizing the different level of "awakeness" I felt, I never wanted to do without that first cup in the morning because I then realized how much faster the rest of the world was operating than me in those early hours, and I never wanted to start another day lagging behind. Then, over the years, I began trying different coffees and enjoying different tastes, and having that warm cup of wonderfully aromatic brew in my hands in the morning, especially in colder months, and I simply NEVER want to face another morning without it. It's great smelling and great tasting stuff. Can I go without it. Yes. Do I want to? You've GOT to be kidding. God Bless you.

It is the need for the stimulant in coffee to get you going..I have the same problem. If I do not drink it..I nod off whilst I am signing the lecture of the teachers for my poor students..

I presume this is your boyfriend, and maybe he has some sort of stress. You should look into this, maybe confront him about it.
