you can have an allergy to certain metals that earrings can be made of. that would cause you to break out or have reactions to having earrings in.
my brother is allergic to several metals and breaks out
he has to have specific frames for his glasses or he will break out anywhere the metal touches his skin

yes some people can only were real earrings and so forth like gold and silver and some people are allergic to different things so it is possible that you are allergic to the types of earring you are wearing try another kind to see if you have the same affect

Yes. Before I got my ears pierced I could wear any kind of metal. Now the only thing that I can wear is sterling silver and 14K gold. If I try to wear anything else I break out in a rash and sometimes get an infection.
