He drive a very bashed up wreck of a car. I am impressed at his commitment to having God as his co-pilot and letting Jesus take the wheel!

Mine drives a big pickup truck for working his ranch and transporting horse trailers. I think that's great!
My previous pastor drove a minivan for transporting his 4 children.
(We move often)
The pastor before that drove a Lincoln towncar, and I had no problems with that either. His children were grown, and he was approaching retirement age.
I have no problems with prosperity- or with the lack therof. A pastor who has built a large and prosperous congregation should be blessed proportionally, and a pastor who leads a congregation of farmers and ranchers should probably lead a commensurate life. Statistically, most pastors have a full-time job besides their pastorship. If they can pay their bills, they have the same opportunities for making buying decisions as I do.

I think my Pastor drives an Audi now and I'm happy for him. He left his secure position as an associate Pastor in his father's church in Philadelphia with a congregation of about 1,000 people because God called him out to California saying that He was going to use my Pastor to call thousands of people into the body of Christ.
When my Pastor came here he came to a church with 35 people and they were praying that he could find a house with rent cheap enough for his pastoral salary to cover his living expenses. He drove the second worst car in the church parking lot for several years until the mechanic told him to give it up.
Today the congregation is over 5,000 people and it's nice to see that God has blesse Pastor Paul with a nice car to go to the many places that his duties take him.

When I was attending Catholic school as a child, the priests had a aircraft carrier-sized Cadillac sitting in the driveway of the rectory. It was black, and I recall thinking it looked like a funeral director's car. The nuns, on the other hand, had an ancient Chevy station wagon, which wheezed like an asthmatic every time they started it.
When I think back on it, I thought it was unfair. I remember thinking priests and nuns were supposed to take vows of poverty; seems only the nuns kept theirs.

A 1992 Ford Taurus.
I feel sorry for him. You would think that a priest with a congregation of 300+ would be able to afford health insurance or a descent ride.

He drives a 2002 Taurus and his wife drives a 2001 Plymouth van. They're both paid for and they're happy with their cars. Neither of them are materialistic enough to want a new car every year or so not do they desire to drive fancy expensive cars.

you should be worried about getting your life together. who cares what they drive, most preachers have a job outside the church and that's the way it should be. My pastor is a best selling author and he is an entreprenuer. we don't hold any fish frys or car washes to make money for our church. what you should be worried about is where all this building fund money goes. he takes every dollar and has fixed up our church, we see results.
