Sorry pal, no one "needs" a switchblade, but they sure are fun to have around. I collect them and use the following website to purchase online.Try to stay away from the Chinese junk, Stick with Beltrame brothers, marked AB and FB, also look for AKC.

Go down to the Springfield Police Dept. They have a property room just filled with switch blades. All styles and sizes. Maybe they will sell you one just because they need the room.

Like somone else said check Army/Navy stores if you dont see any ask alot of the time they have some under the counter.I have no Idea why these knives are illegal.I have a Spyderco and a German gravity knife that I can open almost as fast as a switch blade.

Just to clarify a little, automatic knives are not illegal in every state. Here in Montana, you need a knife collectors letter from the sheriffs office to buy them. Some states, like this one, make them legal to own if you only have one arm and can't open a regular pocket knife.
I seriously doubt they are legal in Mass. It should be easy enough to check your laws on line. May I suggest a knife like the Kershaw Onion? It is an "assisted opening" knife you can easily open with one hand. I have one, I like it a lot, and you wont get in trouble for having it.

You have to go to a criminal importer/manufacturer or become a criminal importer/manufacturer since the importation, manufacture or possession of a switchblade is a felony in Massachusetts.
So why do you need to become a felon?

There are companies which sell them through mail order and possibly the web, but they are still illegal in most areas.
