Hes allowed to pull you over. But he needs probably cause to search the vehicle (or your permission).

First of all, law enforcement officers do not particularly have to have a "reason" to pull you over. To ascertain that you are licenced to drive is a valid reason.
You don't say what the officer said nor if he gave you any reason for legally pulling you over.
That you are a threat or the colour of your car? Is that what he or she said was the reason why.
You, by law, MUST obey the direction of a police officer when he/she indicates for you to pull to the side of the road.
MOST people do obey and have no complaint once the interaction is complete.
Should you never have police contact because you are a "treath".....I haven't figured out what that is either

Pretty much anything can fall under "probable cause", which is why cops pull over a lot of people. Prehaps your rear end was riding low, or a tail light was out, or something along those lines. Prehaps a car of the same make/model and color was reported stolen and he was checking it out (license plates are easily changed, after all).

Your rights are pretty much the same as any other time. Cooperate, and don't give the officer any reason to detain you longer than neccessary. Furnish your license and registration when asked and answer his questions respectfully. And especially don't get snippy with him/her and demand answers about why you're being pulled over.

if a officer pulls you over because of the color of car, race etc that is profiling and is against the law. In order for an officer to pull you over he must have probable cause, which could be a traffic violation, or problem with your car. He must state the reason he pulled you over. You must provide the officer with basic information such as your drivers license, registration, insurance, and identification for other passengers upon request. he does not have the right to search your car unless he has your permission, he is arresting you, and there is no other licensed driver. or some other probable cause such as weapon, drugs or paraphernalia in plain sight or the odor of drugs. If he has a drug dog that hits on your car he then has probable cause. If you give him permission to search he must leave you in a position to be able to stop the search at any time, therefore he cannot put you in the back seat of his car with door and windows closed for his "own safety".

You cannot be pulled over without a valid reason, like your headlight is out or your tags are expired, etc. If you are pulled over you can ask why, have the right to know what for. The officer should inform you of that before or after getting you license and registeration. You can make a compliant if it's for a BS reason.

Police need a reason to pull you over; whether it be an equipent violation, driving conduct, etc. They don't have time to pull over all the red cars - you did something. When you get pulled over, be honest and don't get an attitude. Many people can talk their way INTO a ticket depending upon their attitude.

Your question is vague and antagonistic.

Inthe US we have alot of rights, but each right we possess extends only so far depending on any number of situations.

You have freedom of movement throughout the country...Unless you're under arrest.

You have a right to bear arms...Unless it is in violation of another law.

You have the right to free speech...Unless your speech endangers others.

You have alot of rights during a car stop, but any number of them could be limited or gone altogether because of any number of situations and variables that are in play during a car stop.

Give me a specific situation and I can be more specific in my answer.

Be careful with this guy's answer: "For starts you have the absolute right to know why the cop pulls you over."

Throw that one at the cop in a pissy way the second he or she walks up to the car and you are going to get a citation for everything they can find.

The time to assert your rights is NOT when a police officer stops you. The time to assert your rights is in court when/if you challenge the citation he or she might give to you.

In the meantime, you do what the officer tells you. You give him or her your drivers license, registration, and/or proof of insurance as the law requires, and act respectfully in the meantime.

You have the right to be treated with respect; similarly, you should always stay calm and treat the police officer respectfully. You have the right to request the officer's card, or if he doesn't carry one, to write down his badge number.
