1. I'm a dude.
2. I haven't done anything to let my urges subside for about a year now. I cannot focus, I can't think. I'm much more bitter. If I keep waiting, will it eventually go away, or will it just make me worse and worse?

I too am a dude. I have been away from my ex-girlfriend now for well over 4 months, and still get urges. But I wish to become a Christian, so I must submit myself to GOD's will to be so, and fight the urges to go crazy and indulge in a bonkfest.
If you keep your mind busy, and not focused or surrounded by visual stimulants, ie, porn, porno pics, or hot girls you know, and find something else to do, all urges should disappear. You can master the urges and win, if you set your mind to doing so.And believe that you can.

I'll go out on a limb and guess that your anger is about something other than not having sex. Maybe it's tied into the reason you are refraining. Talking to someone about it would be a good place to start. To a professional therapist would be even better.

Why ever you are refraining is cool and the urges should lessen.
But I think you need to still pleasure yourself and watch some porn.
This should help a little.

well if after a year it has not gone away i wouldent expect it to, i dont know your situation with this but it all kinda depends, it could just stay like it is or it could get worse or maybe even better, but theres always a way to take you mind off it just find a hobbie to help you keep your mind ocupid

Osho has a book called Love, Freedom, and Aloneness.... he clearly points out the stupidity of otherworldly people's rejections of the worldly.... and vice versa, you need both.

it is natural to have sex. after a year, no wonder you cant focus. your problem is not physical, its mental. why your refraining is the obvious problem. if you cant come to grips with that, and tell someone, it wont be solved. sorry to say it, but with your problem, stupidity comes to mind.
